Every human has a unique story to tell, if we would only offer a listening ear.

At CRC, we are proud to be among those who get to listen. Research proves time and time again the healing power of sharing your story with an empathetic and curious other. One of CRC’s theoretical backbones is integrating story sharing into our group and individual work. Here, we find that shame dies and connection lives.

Schedule with one of our counselors today. We are ready to listen to your story.

As the seasons change and the cold, dark Winter makes room for the warmer and brighter Spring, many colors come out from their hiding places.

We exchange black winter coats for pastel shirts and floral dresses. Dead grass is now green and accompanied by wildflowers and our beloved bluebonnets. We move the fires from our fireplaces inside to campfires and grills in the backyard.

Fitting that we would celebrate Easter during this time. As we see the new life around us, Easter calls us to focus on the new life that is within us. This holiday doesn't just ask us to clean ourselves up and smile big for a new family photo, but to step into the new life that Jesus provides us through His death and resurrection.

It also reminds us that death and darkness will never have the final say. God's Truth has victory over lies. God's Light has victory over darkness. God's Life has victory over death. Whatever lies, darkness, or death you're experiencing now, take heart and join hands with those you love. You are not the exception to God's resurrection power.

Breathe. Be still. Step into the light.

This Spring Break, consider GETTING OUTSIDE! 🍃☀️💦

There are abundant resources for our nervous systems to be discovered outside: sunshine, movement, colors, smells, wind, and more sensory goodness! Read above just how nature regulates the nervous system and for fun ideas to reduce screen time and increase outside time this month.

Spring Break is upon us! And whether you’re jet-setting off on a vacation or staying put at home, we allll know Spring Break can come with some big feelings and big dysregulation. When kids (and parents!) hit that “too much” moment, it helps to have some quick, playful reset tools on hand.

The Mirror Game is a great idea for quickly engaging your kids with connection and fun, to reset everyone’s mood! Try it out at home or on your trip for enhanced bonding and delight. :)

Therapists talk a lot about self-compassion, because it really is that important.

Your brain responds to self-compassion the same way it does to compassion from others.

Research shows that when we treat ourselves with compassion, especially in moments of difficulty or stress, we actually grow. Self‑compassion helps us learn from mistakes, bounce back with resilience, and build the mental strength to move forward with confidence.

Self‑criticism might feel productive, but science suggests it actually holds us back. Self‑compassion, on the other hand, is the secret to greater resilience, emotional strength, and long‑term well‑being.

Self compassion is a skill that can be learned. It involves facing mistakes, insecurities and challenges with three mindsets:
1. Self-kindness: You are worthy of the same understanding and support you offer others.
2. Common humanity: All humans make mistakes.
3. Mindfulness: Noticing your emotions and honor their presence.

How are you practicing self-compassion today?

Check out February’s book of the month for families! This sweet story is about showing and sharing love with those who make our lives special. 💕
Read with your kids, then use these processing questions for deeper discussion:

1. How did Cornelia use the hearts?
2. Who would you send a heart to and what would you like to say on the heart?
3. What are some special ways to love and celebrate animals and our pets?
4. What are some other ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day other than Valentine’s cards?
