This week we recognize the third candle of Advent: joy! 🕯️

Our Executive Director Dawn Delaney, LPC, shares about the kind of joy we receive in a relationship with Jesus. Christ came to enter our desperate and lonely places with us when He took on the form of a baby. We can celebrate that with great joy this Christmas!

This week, we recognize the second candle of Advent: peace. 🕯️

Janai Bryan, LCSW-S, shared with us how Christ has made Himself our lasting peace. When we rest in the peace He gives, we are more able to fully live into our Authentic Spirit-led Self, the self He created us to be.

This week, meditate on the peace that surpasses your understanding and guards your mind. Identify how this peace feels in your body. Breathe in deeply, and let yourself linger in these sensations with gratitude and delight.

If you need help resting in the embodied presence of peace, connect with a CRC therapist today at relationalcare.org or by calling 512-492-6200.

This week we recognize the first candle of Advent season: hope. 🕯️ Noel Cho offers a perspective on hope that allows both the struggle and confidence in what’s to come.

If you are struggling this holiday season, know that it is possible to be filled with hope again. Meeting with a counselor who sees, hears, and understands your pain may be the first step is creating space for hope again. Processing your story with a caring, outside perspective often lifts the veil on what we cannot yet see.

One of our therapists at CRC would love to connect and begin the walk back to hope with you. Call 512-492-6200 or get more info at relationalcare.org.

This Giving Tuesday, make an impact by donating to Center for Relational Care!

Through the generosity of community grants and donations, we have been able to provide over $95,000 worth of scholarships and fee subsidies so far this year to clients who otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford the care they needed.

Help us make an even bigger impact on the overall mental and relational health of our community in 2026! Your donations help us keep our rates as low as possible and allow us to continue providing scholarships and fee subsidies to those with financial need.

Four areas to give towards:
Intensive Scholarships
Special Needs Counseling (goes towards fee subsidies for in-office counseling)
Development of Training
Operating Expenses

You can give at relationalcare.org/give to any of these causes! Thank you for your generosity and for helping CRC continue to provide quality relational, mental, and spiritual care to our clients and the community at-large.

Join us all month long to celebrate the Advent season! ✨

Advent isn’t just waiting for Christmas, it’s a time to practice living as Jesus did. It's a time to wait with anticipation, engage in brave peacemaking, resilient joy, and sacrificial love in a hurting world. We celebrate Advent by living it out through generous love and care for our neighbors as we join Jesus in bringing peace on Earth.

Our team of directors at CRC will be walking us through the five candles of Advent each week of the month.

Whether you are in a long waiting season or enjoying a harvest of blessings, we pray light and hope over you as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. 🕯️💛

Our CRC team is grateful! What are you grateful for this year?

In a previous post, we discussed the neurological benefits of gratitude. But what if you struggle to find anything to be grateful for?

It’s common to believe that gratitude is only accessible to someone if they have the “big” things in life, like health, wealth, great relationships, etc. But the truth is, most of us don’t have all these boxes checked. Most of us feel lacking in one area or another and that can leave us feeling excluded from gratitude altogether.

At CRC, we regularly practice finding “small”, mundane things in life to appreciate. These things are often sensory experiences we encounter on a daily basis but don’t take pause to truly notice. When we savor these ordinary parts of life, rather than passively consume them, we experience the feeling and benefits of gratitude. This practice reminds all of us that there are beautiful, valuable, and heart-warming moments occurring all throughout our days, just waiting for our focused attention.

If gratitude feels complicated or difficult this holiday season, look for the ordinary, little things to appreciate. Maybe it’s a certain smell, food, song, sound, feeling, or interaction with a stranger that warms your heart and helps you see the good in life, even just a little bit more. Take pause to savor whatever it is and let gratitude work its wonder in your spirit.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, from CRC!

Our nervous systems are extremely adaptable, and after years of hardship or trauma, our bodies often cope by shutting off. This way of coping can leave people stuck in disconnection and numbness that feels impossible to move out of. But through meaningful relationships, self-compassion, and intentional connection with your body, it is possible to move from numb to unburdened.

CRC’s newest group for women is still open for registrations! Join Sarah Dwelle and Melissa Pearson-Dodson in this 8-week group experience, exploring reconnection to the self through movement, story, and psychoeducation. This group will be held in our South Austin office.

It's November and that means we get to talk about one of our favorite topics at CRC -- gratitude! 🍂

Gratitude is more than a feeling; it is a mental state trained to see the good in every day moments. Our brains thrive off of gratitude, and so too can our relationships. This month, we invite you to learn with us how gratitude can impact your mental health and relational well-being.

To close out ADHD month, we’ve rounded up some of our therapists’ own recommended reads & resources! 📚

We are grateful that we have varieties of experience with neurodivergence amongst our therapists at CRC, from supporting kids or adults with ADHD to coaching parents through the journey of a child’s diagnosis. These resources have been supportive in our various work with clients, and we hope can help educate and support you, too!

Our Story

The Center for Relational Care provides counseling services for healing and change. We serve children, families, single adults, and married couples as well as provide trauma recovery therapy, especially for those seeking EMDR Therapy. We seek to bring hope and healing to broken relationships, wounded hearts, and struggling lives. As the flagship counseling center for “Intimacy Therapy,” CRC also uses its expertise to train counselors and pastoral leaders around the world in this counseling model that helps hurting people experience God’s presence, provision, compassion, and truth. Some of our clients choose to participate in the Accelerated Relational Care (ARC) Process. This unique approach may help clients jump-start the counseling journey with 8-12 hours of counseling completed in a condensed period of time.
