Hey y’all, it’s been a minute…

Though my presence on social media has changed over the past few years, my mission has not. Occupational therapy practitioners are uniquely positioned to navigate, support, and empower experiences of gender euphoria through participation and engagement in daily occupations. How? Well, occupations like dressing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, and bathing provide opportunities for gender expression. So what’s the issue? Whether it’s due to legislation, policies, and/or personal beliefs, opportunities for gender affirmation are not equitably supported or accessible. AOTA’s Policy E.15, Affirming Gender Diversity and Identity, emphasizes OTPs obligation to provide, educate on, and advocate gender affirming care.

I had the distinct pleasure of serving as a panelist on the panel for “We Need To Talk About Gender Affirming Care” alongside , , and .pelvic.health at the MA/RI state OT conference. Despite the noise, misinformation, and hate being spread across media, I want to remind you to focus on q***r joy and hope. We are here. We are not going anywhere. Every human deserves the right to feel safe, affirmed, and at home in their own body. When people tell us who they are, listen.

Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing more content on sexual health, gender affirming care, scholarship and advocacy. If yall haven’t heard yet, I have been selected as one of AOTF’s OT influencers for their challenge. I am really excited to highlight some of their work and how it aligns with my personal and professional mission.

Did y’all know they offer several scholarship for OT and OTA students?? Or that they have an scholarship? Stay tuned to learn more!

Hey y’all!! I have the honor of supporting a previous student with their research! If you are an OT practitioner with at least one month of experience in providing gender affirming care, please consider filling out the form (link in my bio). For clarity, this is a different study than the one I am conducting with , though it would be even more magical if you would consider filling out both study forms!

“Hi! My name is Lindsay Coll and I am currently an occupational therapy graduate student at Ithaca College conducting an IRB approved ( #589) research study on the role of occupational therapy and gender affirming care with my faculty advisor, Shannon L. Scott. I am looking for occupational therapy practitioners who have at least one month of experience providing gender affirming care and who would be willing to participate in two semi-structured interviews, (a 45-60 minute initial interview and a 30-45 minute follow up interview) to discuss your experiences and perspectives. No identifiable information will be collected and a $20 gift card to Visa or Wegmans (your choice) will be provided as compensation for your participation.

If you or someone you know would be interested in participating, please complete a brief survey at: https://ithaca.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9v0RdUkRnTTGZ0i

Please contact lcoll@ithaca.edu or sscott3@ithaca.edu with any questions or concerns!

Thank you for your time and consideration!”

Hey y’all! If you’re new to this space (or new to me), welcome!

I am Devlynn “Dev” Neu (they/he), MS, OTR/L, CSOT, aka The Rainbow OT! Y’all can just can just call me Dev. I am q***r, non-binary, and disabled, you’ll see these identities woven through the work I have done and aspire to do. I am currently situated in Ithaca, NY and am proud to have my origins in Rochester, NY.

I am an occupational therapist with 7 years of clinical experience with practice experience in acute care, in-patient rehab, outpatient rehab, home health, and community settings. My background is in physical medicine, neurorehab, sexuality & intimacy, mental health, trauma informed care, LGBTQIA+ care, and gender affirming care. I am a certified sexuality OT through .

I am an assistant professor, clinician, and doctoral student. My scholarship is currently focused on establishing a clearer pathway for gender affirming care in occupational therapy and identifying occupational therapy’s role in supporting and facilitating experiences of gender euphoria. I also serve on an interdisciplinary team as a co-founder and co-facilitator of an interdisciplinary community-based program for people with Parkinson’s Disease.

Service is an important part of my work. I currently serve as Co-Chair of The Network for LGBTQIA+ Concerns in OT, on the Executive Council for the Multicultural, Diversity, and Inclusion Network, and have previously served on the board of COTAD.

With that, there is more to life than service, work, and occupational therapy. On this page you will find everything from memes, fashionable outfits, and fun life moments to calls to action, community organization, educational posts, advocacy, and activism.

Stick around if you’d like to share joy, take action, learn a little, and make authentic connections.✨

The Rainbow OT is a solo project, it is just me behind this account/platform/website. If you’re here for collaboration, speaking engagements, or requests, please contact: therainbowot@gmail.com. Please do not submit formal requests through DMs or messaging, I will at times miss them and we will both be sad.

With love and solidarity,
Dev

Had the absolute pleasure of joining some magical colleagues at for an interdisciplinary panel on Gender Affirming Care (GAC). The conversation was powerful, transformative, and filled with hope. Thank you for facilitating this event and for inviting and I to crash your Human Conditions course on Thursday. Sarah and I were humbled by the brilliant students who successfully blocked us from reaching the kahoot podium.

Special thanks to for being an amazing travel partner, GAC trailblazer, and all around awesome human.
