🧠 Three Mindsets to Strengthen Your Emotional Health (DBT)

In Dialectical Behavior Therapy, your mindset matters. The way you approach life’s challenges can shape every decision, emotion, and interaction. Here are three core DBT mindsets that help you respond with clarity instead of chaos:

1. Reasonable Mind
This is your logical, fact-focused side. It helps you plan, problem-solve, and stay grounded when emotions run high. Reasonable mind asks, “What do the facts tell me?”

2. Emotion Mind
This is your feeling-center. It’s powerful and intuitive, but when it takes over, decisions can become impulsive or reactive. Emotion mind asks, “What am I feeling right now?”

3. Wise Mind
This is the balance. The middle ground. The space where logic and emotion work together. Wise mind sounds like intuition, clarity, and inner knowing. It asks, “What choice aligns with both truth and my values?”

✨ When you slow down and access Wise Mind, you give yourself the chance to respond instead of react.

If you’re working toward healthier thinking and emotional balance, start by noticing which mindset you’re in—and then gently guide yourself back to Wise Mind.

You deserve that peace.

Fire has a way of teaching us to release what we can’t carry anymore.
Tonight I’m letting the flames hold the stress, worry, and noise I’ve been holding for everyone else.
This is my reset. 🔥✨

Co-regulation is the adult being a steady, calm presence that children can lean on, learn from, and eventually mirror in their own self-regulation. It’s a key step toward emotional resilience and healthy coping strategies.

Sometimes your child won't want to be held and don't force it. But if we can stay calm, meet the feeling not the behaviour then co-regulation can happen. When we hold our child there is a physical change. Their nervous system will mirror ours. We just have to wait for the fire to go out.

Co-regulation doesn’t have involve hugging. Some kids won’t calm when held but doesn’t mean that you can’t co-regulate. Being close and calm will still impact your child’s nervous system and eventually calm too. When you label the feeling for your child rather than reacting to the behaviour, they feel heard and understood. When they are ready you can work it out together
