I thank my body for what it can do, and forgive it for what is currently out of reach.

This has been my mantra for many years, and now feels like a good time to share it. I’ve seen a lot of posts recently where people are struggling with their bodies not behaving the way they used to for one reason or another.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if it’s older age, a new diagnosis, an injury, or something else entirely that has changed the way you experience your body. Even when it feels like it’s falling apart, your body performs miracles to keep you alive every day.

I know how hard it can be to find gratitude alongside frustration.
I know how easy it is to get angry and lash out at the parts of use the don’t look or act the way we want them to.
I also know that you deserve grace, and I encourage you to offer it to yourself whenever possible.

You’ve never been perfect, so there’s no reason to hold yourself to that standard now.

When I was 10 years old, I spent some time in a wheelchair. I remember going to physical therapy 3 days a week before school. I was so miserable. Being in that much constant pain combined with how embarrassed I was to be seen in that chair was almost too much for me to handle. That was probably the
