A group of 600 Yatris visited AravindโMadurai as part of the annual Jagriti Yatra, a train journey that exposes participants to exemplary organisations across India. This marked the 10th visit of the Jagriti Yatra team to Aravind Eye Care System.
The Yatris were welcomed at the Madurai railway Junction by a team of Aravind managers. The visit began with a session at the AMRF building, where ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข, Quality Manager, AECS, gave an overview of Aravindโs model and operations.
๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ฆ, Regional HR Director, Madurai Region, AECS, addressed the gathering, followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฌ๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ฆ, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ง๐๐๐๐ฌ, Director, Fellowship and Physician Development Programme, and ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ก ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ซ, Chief, Neuro-Ophthalmology Services. The panel responded to questions from the Yatris, while ๐๐ซ. ๐. ๐๐ซ๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐, Chief Medical Officer, AravindโChennai, addressed the participants virtually.
The Yatris were then divided into groups for field visits:
โช๏ธ12 groups toured various hospital departments.
โช๏ธ4 groups visited Vision Centres located in Sholavandhan, Alanganallur, Vadipatti, and Kariapatti.
โช๏ธ3 groups explored Aurolab, Aravindโs manufacturing facility.
The Jagriti Yatra comprised a total of 600 participants, including 525 Yatris, Team members, and Resource persons. The group represented 27 States and Union Territories, covering 150 districts across the country.
Reflecting remarkable diversity, 45% of the participants were women, 70% hailed from Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions, and 15% belonged to tribal communities. Notably, half of the Yatris were entrepreneurs, and the average age of the participants was 25 years.
