The Desmond Tutu TB Centre was awared the Karel Styblo Public Health Prize from the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. This prize is awarded to recognize significant contributions to tuberculosis control over a period of 10 or more years by a health worker or community organization. Congratulations and well done to Prof Anneke Hesseling and the team from DTTC 🎉🎉🎉

Yesterday was the Academic day of Excellence hosted by the Paediatric department. We had the honour to listen to speakers of the highest standard. They inspired us with their knowledge and research achievements. Each one a expert in their field. Thank you!!

“Understanding Childhood Tuberculosis Meniningitis Through a Patchwork of Experience- searching for Neverland or Sugar Man?”

Thank you so much for the opportunity to spend time at the Dr. von Hauner Children’s Hospital, Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. I truly appreciated the warm welcome and the chance to share an overview of Paediatrics and Child Health at Tygerberg Hospital/Stellenbosch University. It was a pleasure meeting such fantastic people, and I’m excited about the potential for future research collaborations.

The SAPA Congress was truly remarkable, hosted at a breathtaking venue, and, as always, it was filled with valuable insights and experiences. Our Stellenbosch team was well represented by registrars, consultants, and our Head of Department. We proudly showcased:
-Two poster presentations
-Four research presentations by registrars
-Consultant presentations that highlighted our team's excellence.
A huge congratulations to Peter for winning the award for best oral presentation at SAPA 2025! Additionally, kudos to all the other presenters—Tygerberg was exceptionally represented, and each of you made us proud!
