What did the muscle say while having contractions?: "I want to be eccentric, so please give me some space". So they moved and decided to "lever".

That was just a bit of humour, as I am "humerus". On a more serious note: Pilates or Functional types of movement encourage eccentric contractions which is a lengthening contraction. Which creates a feeling of creating space in your movement or exercise. Which in turn lets just the necessary muscles work and be supported by the necessary stabilisers for that particular movement. The effect gives a pain free, strengthened result.
