My birthday is tomorrow… I’ll be 52… if you care about me and aren’t strugglin…donate to the project I started 16 years ago and is still going…. It’s not one of those projects that all the money goes to the admin and keeping the bureaucracy afloat… its one of those projects that changes lives and affects the most cast away humans on the planet…i donated $1000 dollars cuz I have a good job and after 10 years of working my ass off I finally don’t feel like I’m gonna end up under a bridge. If you are friends with me, you know that I’ll do anything for you if you are in need. This is what I want for my birthday…. $10 goes a long ass way in South Africa. $1000 keeps what I believe in afloat for longer than you expect.

Did you know there is a FREE community acupuncture project in Cape Town?

Flying Needle Project is a volunteer-run organisation that operates weekly in the city center providing free healthcare to homeless, unemployed and under-resourced people.

Please help them keep going. Every donation helps - no matter the amount. And share this with others who may need it - or who can donate.

Greetings FNP followers and members!

We hope that 2023 is treating you well so far!

We would like to announce that the Flying Needle Project is up and running again!

We are operating every Monday from 9.30am-2pm at one of our old original locations, Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town. You can find us at 47 Commercial Street, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town.

We operate on a walk-in basis, first come first serve. Please do not arrive any later than 1pm, as you may not get an appointment if you do.

Join us for free / donation-based Acupuncture any Monday you feel that you need some healing. Remember, Acupuncture is a system that immediately (and over time) encourages your body to heal itself by promoting and stimulating a natural, self-healing process.

If you have any headaches, aches and pains, repeated colds and flu, back pain, arthritis, digestive issues, weak immune system, fatigue / tiredness, sleep issues, any kind of problem at all, then please come to us one Monday for some healing helping care with one of our very proficient Acupuncturists.

We are a non-profit non-government organization. All outside donations and donations made by patients / clients go to paying for rent, needles, cotton wool and other materials, electricity, pens and paper etc. If you are able to give, please do. If you are not, please come anyway.

We are in the community to be of service to those in need, no matter their background, culture, or status, professionally, financially or otherwise. We do not discriminate. We also do not tolerate prejudice or discrimination within the clinic or at Scalabrini Centre. Our doors are open to all.

We hope to see you at least once in 2023 and if you are an original patient of Flying Needle Project please spread the word of our reopening!

Blessings and well wishes upon you all 🙏🏼✨

Pierre Sangwa Ngoy: The man who claimed his freedom and reclaimed his health!

Pierre fled Lumbumbashi, Congo in 2001 because of political wars between Congo and Rwanda. At the time Pierre was a 2nd year student at the University of Lubumbashi studying business management, sadly he was never able to obtain a qualification.

Pierre's mother and father were both killed by Rwandan militants - his mother worked in the mining industry and police intelligence force, and his father in Telecommunications and Transport in Government, likely candidates for a targeted strike. While President Mabuto was still in power, Pierre's stepfather was murdered by corrupt government officials. At this point he realized it was too dangerous to stay in his homeland any longer.

Pierre is well spoken in French, Swahili and English, so when he first arrived in Durban in 2001 he worked as an interpreter for the UN and in public relations. He also worked for IOM (International Organization for Migration), as an interpreter for private attorneys, SASA and other government organizations and worked part-time as a car guard.

He lived and worked in Durban for 13 years, but he was never paid what he was promised so in 2006 his health began to plummet due to high levels of stress and poor lifestyle conditions. He began to develop symptoms of bloody stools, cysts, body pain, headaches, tiredness and poor appetite. In February 2008 he was diagnosed with hemorrhoids and a pr*****ed lumbar disc in his spine, for which he had two individual operations.

He couldn't afford rent any longer so was forced to move to Cape Town in 2014. Upon arrival his only option was to work as a full time car guard in Muizenberg, due to having no qualifications and the high unemployment rate

Pierre met Gidon Levenbach, the founder of Flying Needle Project, in Muizenberg beach parking lot when he would go surfing. They would have regular casual conversations and eventually became friends. Pierre went to hospitals for years, being prescribed paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly, which only ever seemed to reduce the pain, never alleviate it. Upon Gidon's suggestion, Pierre drank several cups of green tea daily, which seemed to greatly reduce the level of pain and improve his overall strength.

Gidon invited Pierre to attend the Flying Needle Project clinic for the first time in August of 2014. Pierre stated that back in Congo his state of health was at 100%. Before Gidon's first Acupuncture session his state of health was at 20%. Up until now he feels his health has recovered by 95%. He claims all of his hemorrhoids have receded and the bleeding has stopped. He is now taking Chinese Herbal Medicine which is giving him more energy, greatly relieving his pain, and has reduced the episodes of his headaches to no more than twice per week - he has never slept better.

Pierre says that he is grateful to have met Gidon, and that it was a blessing from God. If he never discovered Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine he may never have reclaimed his health.

As of April 2015, I have stepped down as director, and handed the project over to Dr. Alex Smuts. Alex is an amazing practitioner, and shares my passion for public health. I will still be involved with FNP from the U.S. by helping to fund raise and doing publicity.
FNP is separating from our umbrella organization, the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town, and becoming its own Non Profit. We thank Scalabrini for the years of support and generosity. The project could have never become what it is without their assistance. These are new days for the project and the path ahead is an exciting one. Alex has many visions for building and maintaining the project. FNP is quite busy these days, and is treating many people twice a week in its new clinic location. Funding is always an issue and I would like to send out one last request to all of you to donate if you are able to. The best way to do this is on our givengain profile which can be reached by following this link,
http://www.givengain.com/cause/4461/projects/12649/

It has been such an honour, founding and running FNP and I am very happy to be handing it over into very capable hands.
I want to thank our team for being amazing and keeping the project going all these years. Gidon

Flying Needle Project would like to raise upwards of $40,000 in order to expand our services. We would like to offer more treatment days at our existing clinic and open other treatment sites. We would also like to purchase a vehicle to transform into a mobile clinic. Please donate if you can. Our mi…
