Deep South Throw Down Annual South Peninsula fitness competition. Open to all crossfit athletes, sports people, gym rats and fitness enthusiasts. Community and camaraderie.

Deep South Throw Down is an annual fitness competition, with the primary goal of bringing the fitness community together and forging friendships and camaraderie. It is a celebration of health and fitness as well as a show case of the outstanding possibilities of the human body with dedication, consistency and passion. We strive to put together a friendly but professional competition. Acknowledging that any competition is only as successful as it's competing athletes and their supporters. We try out best to uphold the fine qualities of sportsmanship amongts all involved parties.

Is it Pool, as in with an 8 ball, cue and pockets?
Or is it actually a swimming workout? In winter.... perhaps this one should get released today.... I'd like to hear your guesses though

Movement standards for Masters of Fitness 2017

Bear in mind, this competition format is not discretely either RX or Scaled. You will be able to chose individual movements within the workouts as RX or Scaled. Scoring will favor RX movements.

Below are standards for the RX or Scaled options you may have. Bear in mind these are not exact movements to be performed in the competition. Some on the list will not be in the competition and some movements not on the list below will be in the comp. These give you a guideline as to what level of conditioning is approximately necessary.

RX :
Over head squat 80/50
Clean 90/55
Deadlift 160/100

Consecutive Chest to Bar Pull ups
Consecutive Toes to Bar
Handstand walks 2.5m
Handstand Push ups ( 2-3 at a time )
14ft rope climb
Box Jumps 60/50cm
Kettlebell swings 24/16kg

Airbike
Run
Row
Double and Single unders ( broken )

Scaled :
Over head squat 50/30
Clean 55/35
Deadlift 100/65

Push ups
Consecutive knees to chest
Box Jumps 50/40cm
Kettlebell swings 16/12kg

Airbike
Run
Row
Single unders ( broken )

It is up to the athlete when making their choices during the comp that it is done so with a reasonable amount of safety in mind. Control of weights and gymnastic movements should be a strong deciding factors in your decision. The judges' role is not looking after athlete safety. That is up to the individual athlete.

Expect some surprises and keep training.

No RX/Scaled options, but you will have option on the day to RX/Scale individual movements accordingly and you will be scored differently.

If you have 2 different ages wanting to be in a team, you may still enter, just enter as youngest age category in your team.

The Format is workouts on both Saturday & Sunday. More details to be revealed soon.
