Embodiment Rope Space

Embodiment Rope Space We are the first Shibari studio in South Africa '21
Community | Craft | Intention | Humility | Rope This is a queer space. Pleasure is political. No shoes.

The Ethos of Embodiment Rope Space:

This is a sex-positive, kink-positive, pleasure-centric space. Friends of LGBTQIA+ people are welcome. We believe that rope is for every body. We challenge our pre-conceptions in this space. Community is essential for safety. We learn more when we learn together. Open hearts and open minds are welcome here. Treat others as you wish to be treated. We share this space out of joy and the pursuit of pleasure. Consent can be revoked at any time. We practice RACK. We share information and experiences about safety freely. We take responsibility for our mistakes.

Non-negotiable Rules:

Respect the space. Leave no trace - whatever you bring, take it back with you. Ego has no place here. Learn and share with humility. Until the end of the pandemic, masks will be worn in the space. For longer workshops, you will be provided with an N95 mask. Keep underwear on at public events. Nipples may be free. Do not make unsolicited comments about anyone else's body. Do not take any photos of anyone in attendance without consent. Do not reveal the identity of anyone you meet in the space once you leave. Many people prefer anonymity. Be discrete when moving through other parts of the premises - the coffee shop staff downstairs did not consent to witnessing your kinks.

About the space:

The space is in an industrial building in Salt River with secure parking and 24/7 security. The space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible: it is up two flight of stairs. We are able to bring our offerings to you if you are unable to access the space. The space is set up for rope, with floor-to-floor mats and hard points for suspension. There is a small store room available to store your personal belongings.

Join us for a low key, q***r centred creative evening at Embodiment.

Bring your unfinished projects, your knitting, your sketchbook, your beading, your journal, your rope, or simply yourself. This is about soft focus, gentle making, shared space and being around other q***r humans while your hands are busy.

There is no expectation to engage with rope, but rope will be available if you want to casually practice, play or experiment.

This jam is for LGBTQIAP+ folks only. We love our allies, and this space is intentionally created for q***r people to gather, create and connect with one another.

Tickets are lower than our usual jams, and we can offer free tickets if cost is a barrier. Just DM us.

Come craft. Come connect. Come be held in community.

If you loved the first leg suspension jam of the year as much as we did, it’s time to go one step further.

This week we will be playing with partial leg suspensions but with Futomomos.

This is a partial suspension jam, which means we are focusing on foundations and sensation, with most of the body’s weight remaining on the floor. A beautiful way to begin exploring height and dynamic tension without going fully airborne.

An invitation inward.

Self-tying can be a quiet act of devotion to your own body, your breath, your edges and your emotional landscape. In this jam, rope becomes a companion rather than a performance, a way to listen, contain, soften and arrive more fully in yourself.

Whether you are experienced in self-tie or simply curious to explore, you are welcome to move at your own pace. Witnessing is just as valid as tying.

This is a calm, grounding space for introspection, embodiment and gentle self-connection.

Tying to a pillar can be uniquely fun and mischievous. It creates an instant conversation between rope, body, and an unmoving presence, where stability and resistance allow the rope to hold with clarity and intention. The structure supports the tie, freeing the hands to slow down, explore touch, and play with pacing and connection. For the person being tied, it can feel grounding, containing, and deeply surrendering. For the one tying, it allows creativity, responsiveness, and a relaxed confidence that keeps the focus on breath, communication, and shared experience.

Join us for a Pillar Rope Jam on 5 Feb 2026 - 18:45–21:00, for an evening of playful exploration and connection around the pillar.

This jam has limited tickets due to the need for a pillar. Only 6 spots available.
