The bond we share with our pets does more than warm the heart - it also supports our cognitive health as we grow older 🌿🐾

While living alone has been associated with a higher risk of developing dementia and cognitive decline in older adults, research is showing that pet ownership may help to offset these negative effects. Considering participants’ pre-existing health and age, an ongoing study found that both dog and cat owners experienced less cognitive decline as they aged over a 10-year period than non-pet owners. This included everything from memory and processing speed to language function and executive function—the all-important cognitive processes that control and regulate other mental abilities and behavior.
