I once was told that no matter how anxious you are, no matter how overwhelming a situation feels psychologically - if you bring your attention back to your senses, you immediately become grounded.
Out of the noise of the mind. Out of the spiral of thought. And back into the body.
Back in the present moment.
At the time, it felt too simple to be true.
Until I tried it in a deep state of inner turbulence.
I remember sitting in complete chaos.
Heart racing, mind spiralling, eyes popping, jaw clenched and body tense.
So instead of trying to “calm down,”
I took off my shoes tried to feel the ground beneath me, the rhythm of my breath, listening to the quieter sounds around me, noticing the air on my skin, the scent in the room, the lingering taste in my mouth.
NOTHING outside of me changed…
Yet EVERYTHING inside of me shifted.
My thoughts softened.
My heartbeat slowed.
My muscles relaxed.
And for the first time in that moment, I felt aware of what was happening.
That moment became a remembering.
And from that remembering, this experience was born.
That stayed with me and it’s what inspired the Meditative Journey of the Five Senses.
A practice that doesn’t ask you to silence your mind, but invites you to come back into your body and awaken touch, sound, scent, sight, and taste.
At the , this becomes more than a meditation.
It becomes a sensory ritual using breath, sound, guided imagery, and an intentional edible element like chocolate (YUMMY) to anchor awareness directly into the body not through effort, but through sensation.
Because when life feels loud, fast, or overwhelming, presence isn’t found by thinking less. (Often impossible at the time of disarray.)
It’s found by feeling more.
So I invite you to learn these techniques with me because sometimes, all it takes is your senses to guide you home.
