Geneva Fruits

Geneva Fruits The first commercial Pineapple farmers in New Zealand. Selling the best pineapples you'll ever taste. Property name: Geneva Pineapple Estate.

Hi there,
We're Geneva Fruits, based in Whangarei, New Zealand. With our extensive experience growing tropical fruit and fruit in general over the years, back to when we were still living in East London, South Africa. We transferred a lot of that experience we learnt from there, to here in New Zealand. Although a lot we had to alter to suit the New Zealand climate, soil and other factors that could affect the growth of what's being grown by us. With all this experience under our belt, we're bringing out the best of what we have been growing and people have seen that themselves after trying out our fruit. On our property we grow a wide variety of different produce, which includes: Coffee, Sugarcane, Prickly Pears, Dragon Fruit, Cherimoya, Passionfruit as well as Banana's and most notably the Pineapples. We currently have around 30,000+ pineapple plants planted. We sell our Pineapples to the Whangarei growers market (when we have them available) which starts at 6am and ends at 10am. Our pineapples sell out very early, so if you want to purchase one/some of the most succulent and juicy pineapples around, we'd highly suggest that you get there as early as you can after it opens, as you may end up losing out purchasing fruits that week; as our pineapples are in very high demand after all the publicity we've been getting on them. We've had a number media networks, such as radio, newspapers, magazines and shows contacting us over the past few years, here are some of the highlights listed below. Seven Sharp:

The volume of people who have contacted us to date has been amazing and we're very thankful for all the positive messages and feedback we've been given, with what we've been doing. We believe that the pineapples we have are some of the best you'll ever taste. Our pineapples are spray free and are as fresh as it gets. They are sold with the tops on, where as the ones sold in supermarkets are not.

We have mature sugar cane stems for sale. Roughly 2-3years old. $2 each for 100 plus stems. Bulk sales only.

Ones with the small nodules are good for planting and ones with the longer nodules are good for juicing or eating. We use them as windbreaks but they can also be used for compost or cattle feed.

These minimum of 100 stems will need to be collected off our property as we do not courier.

The stems are between 1 meter to 1.7 m tall.
Once we get orders we will cut them down.

We're now finished planting out 9000 new pineapple suckers in a space where we originally had 2000. We have decided to intensify as we have run out of land to plant more suckers. These suckers are healthy and large and will bear in under 18 months time.

Here is Owen planting out his last pineapple plant and this was cause for celebration!

Once again Geneva Fruits has been featured in the latest November copy of NZ Farmer newspaper as the Pineapple Pioneers in New Zealand.
Not only is our crop spray-free but it is less acidic and the core can be eaten which is where all the 'good stuff' in the pineapple is, making it a very desirable fruit amongst The Whangarei Growers Market shoppers.🍍

We look forward to our new season of pineapples in late April. They are now putting out heaps of flowers.

Spring is here and the pineapples plants are loving the warmer weather and are just recovering nicely from the Winter weather. The odd ones are flowering but we are expecting the main flush from the end of November onwards. This means that the pineapples should be ready for harvesting in April and we should be back at the market.

Proven practical data has been a living experiment for us for the last 12 years. We at Geneva Fruits intend to specialize in quality and quantity. At present there are 20 000 - 25 000 original plants planted on our farm which includes the last years 10 000 plants that we planted. We intend to become more intensive and to replant in the existing area and should have 40 000 - 65 000 plants in the ground by the end of 2027.

If there are any other potential growers that want to buy large suckers which will produce fruit within 1 to 2 years and want 10 000 suckers or more please contact Mike Hadland at bacmil@xtra.co.nz
