Sip Before You're Thirsty: Thirst is a late warning sign. Make drinking a habit! Keep a reusable water bottle handy and sip regularly throughout the day.

Know Your Signal: Check your urine colour. It should be pale, straw-yellow.

I’m an Occupational Therapist with an advanced postgraduate qualification in Hand and Upper Limb Rehabilitation and over 18 years of experience in private practice between Johannesburg and Cape Town, where I worked alongside specialist hand orthopaedic surgeons.

At Lowveld Hand Therapy, we specialize in the assessment and rehabilitation of a wide range of hand and upper limb conditions, including:

A stroke happens when blood flow to the brain is blocked, causing brain cells to die quickly. This can lead to serious and immediate effects across your entire body:

Weakness/Paralysis: Loss of movement or numbness, usually on one side of the face, arm, or leg.

Speech Issues: Difficulty talking, slurring words, or trouble understanding others (Aphasia).

Swallowing Difficulty: Problems eating or drinking, which can lead to complications.
Balance & Vision: Sudden loss of balance, dizziness, or blurred vision.

Cognition: Confusion, memory loss, or mood changes.
