Ekhayalempilo doesn’t make sense to most people today; its history goes beyond politics. History has never made sense in its own time — it is the future that explains the past. It takes a great mind to go beyond knowledge and glimpse true wisdom.

"Tourism Comes with Responsibility
We have tourism organisations that don’t care enough about the environment. They should pay attention to the very places tourists visit — making sure these areas are clean, safe, and welcoming.

In Soweto, we have many people without work, yet so much work that needs to be done. Cleaning, maintaining, and beautifying our streets could create real jobs and restore dignity.

Tourism isn’t just about bringing visitors — it’s about taking responsibility. If we want tourists to respect Soweto, we must first respect it ourselves. A clean environment is not only attractive — it’s a sign of pride, unity, and care.

"It took almost six years to gather the whispers of Fen Chue,to breathe
life into a dream
where the four corners of the world can now
feel the air within Ekhayalempilo.
It was not an easy path to weave heart, soul, and spirit
into one peaceful space,
where silence speaks, and every breath becomes understanding."

"When tourists visit Ekhayalempilo, something shifts within them.
They don’t just see the place — they feel it.

Ekhayalempilo offers more than a view; it offers air so fresh and pure, it carries tranquility and renewal in every breath.

Even a few moments here help visitors reconnect with themselves to breathe deeply, to slow down, to find peace within
Sometimes, people don’t need to see much they just need to feel.
Ekhayalempilo is that sacred space where the soul listens, the mind rests, and the heart finds calm.

"Imbizo Tours continues to make history in Soweto.
With a longstanding commitment to showcasing the township's rich cultural and historical heritage, the company has led the way in introducing guided Soweto Tours and highlighting landmarks such as Regina Mundi Church and other iconic sites.

Imbizo Tours also pioneered the establishment of Ekhayalempilo, the first sanctuary in Soweto, located in Rockville. Now, building on this legacy, Imbizo has unveiled the first-ever "History on Rocks" and Wall of the legend experience — a unique storytelling and heritage site situated beside Regina Mundi Church.

Driven by a deep passion for the community and its history, Imbizo Tours' mission is to make Soweto not just a place to visit, but a place to remember.

Ms Mandy Mankazana received her extraordinary gift of African-Style Life Coaching through Tourism from her ancestors over 30 years ago, as is the tradition with Africa’s greatest wisdom. She began by bringing white visitors into Soweto, a township where they had once been escorted under strict supervision. Through her rare ability to transform minds, she created meaningful connections between black and white communities, fostering understanding and dialogue through tourism and her unique 9 Circles of Life Technique.

At a time when civilised interaction between these communities was almost impossible, Ms Mankazana guided both sides to connect. Today, white visitors enter and leave Soweto freely — a living testament to her power to break barriers and heal divisions.

Imbizo Tours: Shaping the Legacy of Soweto Tourism

Imbizo Tours has played a pioneering role in introducing Soweto to the world, not only through guided tours but also by helping to establish the now-famous Soweto Route. Their efforts continue to shape and uplift local heritage through community-driven tourism initiatives.

One of their latest projects is the development of a new tourism stop in Rockville, opposite the historic Regina Mundi Church on Vilakazi Street. Here, a tribute wall—known as the Wall of Rockville Legends—is under development. It aims to honour local heroes through poetry, art, and storytelling. This evolving landmark celebrates the spirit of Soweto and its people, with completion expected soon.

Creative Scientist and Artist Tumelo Mokopakgosi has been instrumental in bringing these stories to life. Through his artwork, he has captured the contributions of legendary figures such as Ms Mandy Mankazana and the late anti-apartheid activist Helen Suzman. Their faces and stories now stand proudly in soweto inspiring both locals and visitors.

Ms Mandy Mankazana, a passionate advocate for Soweto and community tourism, has also supported the transformation of Baba Tulane’s place into a welcoming tourist stop. Her love for Soweto and dedication to its growth continues to empower local spaces and create economic opportunities.

Imbizo Tours remains a powerful force in community tourism, fostering pride, preserving culture, and promoting the rich history of Soweto—one story at a time.

A mind needs to be vacumed too
"If you don't use your mind, it uses you."the mind
is always active, whether you're consciously directing it or not.
Without intentional focus, it can fall into patterns like overthinking, anxiety, or distraction.
Inaction or neglect can lead to negative thought loops or being driven by impulses and habits."
