Exploring the importance of play on National Children's Day 🌸

Play is not “just fun”, it’s how children make sense of their world.

Through play, children:
* Express feelings they may not yet have words for;
* Develop problem-solving and social skills;
* Build resilience and confidence;
* Strengthen their imagination and creativity.

Play is also a way for children to process challenges, fears, and changes in a safe space. Whether it’s building with blocks, creating stories with toys, or exploring outdoors, play nurtures emotional wellbeing.

💡 Consider setting aside unstructured time for play this week, it’s one of the most meaningful gifts we can give children.

Why Play Therapy Matters 🌸

Children don’t always have the words to explain how they feel, but they do have play.

In play therapy, toys, games, and creative activities become the child’s “language.”

Through these, they can:
*Explore and express feelings safely;
*Build coping skills for challenges and worries;
*Strengthen self-esteem and confidence;
*Practice problem-solving and relationship skills.

Play therapy gives children a safe, non-judgemental space to work through what feels big or confusing, at their own pace, in a way that is accessible to them.

Life often pushes us to keep moving, but slowing down is part of caring for yourself. Pausing gives your body and mind a chance to rest and your heart a chance to catch up.

Take a moment today to stop, breathe, and simply be. Remind yourself that choosing rest is just as valuable as moving forward.

We often think of self-care as pampering or relaxation. But here’s the truth: self-care is multifaceted. Yes, it can be watching your favourite movie, but it can also be getting that small task done that’s been causing unnecessary stress.

The key is intention. Taking a break isn’t really self-care if your mind is still busy worrying about everything you “should” be doing.

Self-care is about noticing what you need and doing something that truly supports you. 🌸

Not all battles are visible, and not every victory is celebrated. Some days, just showing up and carrying on is a triumph in itself.

Take a moment to honour the quiet strength you have shown, the resilience that has carried you through, and the courage it takes to keep moving forward.

Recognise the effort it has taken to get this far and give yourself the kindness you deserve.

World Trauma Day 🌸

Trauma is not only about what happens to the body. It can stay with us in our thoughts, emotions and can affect how we experience the world around us. Sometimes we feel on edge, anxious, or distant, even when the event is long past. These are normal human responses to something that felt too big to manage at the time.

Getting support early can make a real difference. Gentle care and understanding can help the healing process. This might meanreaching out for help, talking with someone you trust, or finding ways to feel grounded.

Healing takes time, and there is no one right way to move forward. What matters most is remembering that you do not have to go through it alone, and it is always okay to ask for help. 🌿

Rest is productive 🌿

When you allow yourself to slow down, you give your mind and body the chance to recover. Rest is not wasted time. It is an important part of healing and growth.

Consider one way you can invite rest into your day, no matter how small.

Happy Coming Out Day!🏳️‍🌈

Today we celebrate the bravery and courage of those who choose to embrace and share their truest selves in an uncertain world. We also hold space for those who aren't yet ready because that is valid too.

Yes, it may be scary when a loved one comes out to you, but try understand the amount of courage it may take for them to share a part of their identity with you.

Hold space and lead with love and kindness.

World Mental Health Day 🌸

Today is a reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health. We all have moments when life feels heavy, and needing support does not mean we are weak. It means we are human.

Valuing our mental health means checking in with ourselves, resting when we need to, and reaching out when things feel overwhelming. It also means holding space for others, listening without judgement, and reminding those around us that they are not alone.

It is okay to ask for help. Seeking support is a sign of strength and courage. The more we speak openly about mental health, the more we break down stigma and create a world where everyone feels safe to reach out. 🌿

What is Mindfulness? 🌿

Mindfulness is the simple act of being present. It is noticing each moment as it unfolds, without needing to judge it or change it.

It is not about concentrating on one thing perfectly, but about gently paying attention to our thoughts, feelings and surroundings with openness and curiosity.

Mindfulness invites us to:
* Notice what is happening within us and around us right now;
* Acknowledge our emotions as they come and go;
* Gently return to the present each time the mind wanders.

Like any skill, it grows with practice. Over time, these small moments of awareness can bring a sense of calm, clarity and balance into our daily lives. 🌸

Notice the moment you are in 🌸

So much of life passes while we rush ahead or look back. Taking even a brief pause to notice where you are right now can bring a sense of calm and clarity.

Start by focusing on your breath or observing something steady around you, like the sound of birds or the feeling of your feet on the floor. Let this moment remind you that presence is a practice, not a destination.

Mindfulness is not about fixing or controlling life. It is not about getting it perfect but about meeting each moment as it is, with awareness and compassion.

Taking a pause, noticing your breath, or bringing attention back when the mind wanders may feel small, but over time these small pauses can help create more balance, calm and clarity in daily life.
