World Cancer Day may have passed, but the commitment it calls for continues long after the campaign hashtags fade. Cancer reshapes daily life. Not only for patients, but for families, caregivers, and communities. That’s why palliative care remains essential every single day, not just on awareness days.
Interdisciplinary palliative teams stay close to patients throughout their treatment journey, helping manage symptoms, supporting emotional well-being, and protecting dignity during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Their work strengthens families, restores a sense of control, and helps patients navigate the uncertainty that cancer brings.
Across South Africa, this integrated approach reaches thousands of households. A reminder that palliative care is not about giving up, but about living with support, comfort, and hope.

We would like to encourage our community to support Build it Ladysmith 🙌🏼
Ladysmith Hospice association is immensely grateful to our landlord, John Fourie and his family, who so generously continue to provide us with our Hospice home at Build it — a legacy that began with his late father, Ockie Fourie, in 1997.
For nearly three decades, this generosity has given us more than just a shop and office space. It has given us a home — a place from where we serve, care, and touch the hearts of our patients and their families every single day.
Thank you for your faithful support and for being part of the heart behind Hospice care in our community 💙
