We’re on a mission to upgrade our centre and we need your help!
Let’s build a space where every child can thrive.
Today, South Africa observes the Day of Reconciliation, a public holiday dedicated to reflection, healing, and unity. While the day marks significant historical events such as the 1838 Battle of Blood River (Day of the Vow) and the 1961 formation of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), its purpose in our modern democracy is to bring South Africans together across backgrounds, cultures, and histories.
At Friends Day Centre, we honour this day by recognising the importance of understanding our past, acknowledging its challenges, and committing ourselves to a future built on respect, compassion, and togetherness.
May today inspire us all to continue fostering a nation where every person is valued and where unity is not just an idea, but a lived experience.
Wishing all our learners, families, staff, and community a meaningful Day of Reconciliation.

A child’s environment shapes their world.
By uplifting our building, we’re creating a space where every learner feels seen, safe, and supported.
Join us in building brighter futures, brick by brick. 🧱
On behalf of all our staff, friends, and the Friends Day Centre family, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Fazeelid and Abdul Malick on your beautiful union 🤍
May your marriage be filled with endless love, patience, understanding, and joy. May you grow together through every season of life, supporting one another, celebrating each other’s successes, and finding strength in the bond you share. May your home always be a place of peace, laughter, and warmth, and may your journey together be blessed with happiness and prosperity.
As you begin this new chapter hand in hand, may your love continue to deepen and your days be filled with cherished moments and lifelong memories. Wishing you a long, beautiful life together, wrapped in love and blessings.
Congratulations to the happy couple 💐

We are feeling incredibly grateful and blown away by the love and support we received from The Brewmistress – A Very Beery Christmas event last Thursday! 🎄🍻
On Friday, all the donations were dropped off at Friends Day Centre and we were honestly overwhelmed. When we say our hearts couldn’t be more full, they are now overflowing with gratitude! ❤️
From essential items to generous monetary donations, every single contribution will have a meaningful impact on the lives of our children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Your kindness helps us continue the work we do, and gives our community the support, dignity, and opportunities they deserve.
A massive thank you to everyone who attended, donated, shared, organised, or championed this event in any way. Your energy, commitment, and willingness to spread awareness for Friends Day Centre means more than you know. 💛
To Lucy The Brewmistress and the team involved: thank you for choosing Friends Day Centre as the charity partner and hosting such a fun, festive and purposeful event. You’ve not just raised donations, you’ve helped raise hope.
We are truly humbled by the generosity shown, and we wish each and every one of you a beautiful, safe and merry festive season filled with love, laughter, and connection. ✨

Every donation, big or small, brings us closer.
We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our Year-End Concert on Wednesday. The day may have started with gusts of wind, but it turned into a beautiful, warm celebration filled with Christmas cheer, love, laughter and unforgettable smiles.
To every parent, family member, friend and supporter – this day would not have been possible without you. Your presence, encouragement and festive spirit truly made our hearts full.
A special thank you to our incredible volunteers from SP Global, who stepped in and stepped up – helping everywhere they were needed and spreading joy by handing out presents from Santa.
To Frank, our amazing professional photographer, for capturing every special moment and sparkle of joy – we cannot wait to share your beautiful work with everyone!
To Granville Bruiders, who not only ensured our children travelled safely to the centre, but also managed the full Facebook livestream for the day – moving around, capturing every smile and making sure our community at home could join in the magic.
To the young students who assisted at the clothing store and lovingly supported our children by pushing them on and off stage – thank you for your kindness and Christmas spirit.
To our OT, Gerda Quinn, and her wonderful children, for running the clothing store the whole day with such dedication and joy.
And to all our incredible FDC staff – for your hard work, your performances, and everything you do behind the scenes to make the magic happen. This concert was a true celebration of heart and teamwork.
🎁 We did run out of time and were unable to draw the raffle prize… but don’t worry! The draw will happen today, Friday 05/12/2025, live on our page. The winner will be contacted afterwards.
📸 We will be posting the professional photos as soon as we receive them from Frank – keep an eye out, they are going to be absolutely stunning!
Thank you again to everyone who made this a day full of Christmas cheer, love and memories we will treasure. ❤️💚
Wishing you all a joyful festive season! ✨

Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the strength, dignity and diversity of people living with disabilities.
Some disabilities are visible, some are unseen, and many fluctuate day-to-day — all are valid.
At Friends Day Centre, we are reminded daily that every person deserves access, patience, understanding and respect.
True inclusion starts by listening to persons with disabilities and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
Today, may we choose compassion, awareness, accessibility and belonging.

FDC provides for the needs of learners from numerous communities who present with various disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and Epilepsy plus other less common conditions.
Our aim is to enhance the quality of life of our learners by providing them with the best therapy suited to their individual needs. In doing so, we strive to assist them to reach their best state of being and unlocking their full potential in terms of physical and mental health. We have seen some remarkable improvements in many of our learners who have benefited from the care and therapy provided.
In 2017 our Arts and Craft centre was introduced, giving learners the ability to express their talents through painting and creativity.
