Fine motor activities rule!!! ⭐️⭐️

Wow! It has been a while since I’ve posted as the practice is busy, which means that kiddos are developing👏🏻

Today I had the urge to remind all my on-it parents and teachers out there that fine motor activities rule!!

Here’s Why…

Fine motor activities help strengthen the small muscles in those hands and fingers, which are crucial for everyday tasks like writing, buttoning clothes, or using utensils. These activities also improve hand-eye coordination, concentration, and cognitive skills as children learn to follow steps, solve problems, and make decisions.

Engaging in fine motor activities (pinning, popping, posting, twisting, drawing, building with blocks, or using scissors) promotes creativity and boosts confidence as kids master new tasks. Plus, these activities provide a fun and interactive way for young learners to develop skills that are foundational for their future academic and social success.

Bulk up on that fine motor stimulation at home and in the classroom! You won’t be sorry when those tiny hands are strong and well coordinated 👏🏻🤞🏻👌🏻👍🏻

Ooooh!!!! 2024 is flying and the long December school holiday is almost here!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This year I am again creating a fun-filled CHRISTMAS themed Holiday OT Activity book (for kids aged 4 to 9 years).

The book is available in English & Afrikaans and can travel with to where ever it is that you are going 🚗. Deliveries start within the 1st week of December 2024.

This OT activity book is filled with age-appropriate physical exercises, activities and worksheets that will ensure lots of holiday-fun and continued stimulation (so we go into 2025 strong and on par)!

The holiday program is charged at R600!
Delivery all over SA included.

INTO THE WILD 🦁THEMED HOLIDAY OT ACTIVITY BOOK!!!!

Ooooh!!!! The very long June/July school holiday is just around the corner!

For this holiday I am again creating a fun-filled INTO THE WILD themed Holiday OT Activity book (for kids Grade 000 to Gr 3).

The book is available in English & Afrikaans and can travel with to where ever it is that you are going 🚙💨

Each book is filled with age-appropriate games, physical exercises, activities and worksheets that will ensure lots of holiday-fun and continued stimulation (so we go into the 2nd semester strong and on par)!

The holiday program is charged at R580.00!
Delivery all over SA included (Paxi or PostNet). It will be ready for delivery within the first week of the June Holiday!

Sooo, this weekend I did a CPR and 1st aid course for professionals and when it came to this section of the training - I got chills!!🫣

Babies love to explore by touching things and putting them in their mouths. So it’s no surprise that choking is a common cause of injury, and even death, for babies and young children.

It is important to know what to do, should you ever find yourself in the position where a little one is chocking (we hope never ever, but life happens, so rather be prepared)! This post outlines the basics of steps to follow when your little one is chocking and not getting air.

Note that gagging and coughing is good. Don’t reach into the child’s throat to scratch the object out and Don’t hit the child on their back while upright.

I urge you all to attend a CPR course that will equip you with knowledge and know-how 🫶🏻

Other than this, prevent chocking opportunities by making sure that your baby’s surroundings are safe and tiny-item free. Also, do not introduce solid foods too early - When giving your child solid foods, cut them into small pieces. As a general rule, pieces should be no larger than your pinky fingertip. Foods that require chewing (like meat or cheese) should be in smaller pieces than soft foods (like avocado or watermelon).
