As true as the saying goes,'you are what you think'.

Most often, what you think comes from a place that you don't seem to look for the source, your subconscious.

Behaviors are learned, and we all know how behaviours can change many of the outcomes of our lives.
Just as it can be learned, it can also be unlearned.

This is when Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is used, and one may find great benefits from it when applied.

The only person you can control is you.

Most often, in therapy discussions when a need to be in control and/or be in control of the outcome. It most often stems from unresolved trauma. It is one of the mechanisms to self preserve and be fully self-reliant, though contrary to belief, it is more a means to self-destruct in the long term.
The world is seen through a lens, your personal lens, and only in part, not the whole.
That lens may not always show you the true picture.

It's time for a short introduction in simple words as my analytical brain will allow given the post constraints of Instagram.

I am excited to embark on a journey with a local high school to partner with them and come alongside the young adults of this generation. The time for impactful intervention and stewardship has never been greater with this rapidly changing, globalised influencing, and peer pressures, which are a tough sphere to navigate, and mental health is at the forefront of it.

We often underestimate the psychological effects of gratitude when we are in the eye of brokenness, stress, and hardship.

Feelings of gratitude canĀ regulate cortisol production in your brain and reduce anxiety and stress. Similar to giving, gratitude triggers the brain to release neurotransmitters and hormones associated with happiness, including dopamine and serotonin.

When we are in a depressed state, this calls for us to do the polar opposite and to be mindful of the things we are grateful for and let the focus remain on them.

Keep a journal, start the entry by naming three things are you grateful for, ponder on these things, and let this set the tone for the day.

There are many techniques one could use to adapt a self sooth process, such as focused breathing, observing your body to respond with awareness, listen to music when doing a tedious task and being kind to yourself in the midst of difficulty.

In psychotherapy, it is practiced to face fear by directly walking into the perceived fear in a healthy, managed way. By doing this, you don't become more fearful, but instead, you become braver, thus releasing the power the fear has over you.

I have learned this particular method effective when being faced with my own health anxieties and in the small victories of choosing freedom over bo***ge. It's not comfortable, yet healing begins.
