👁️ Stop Rubbing Your Eyes! Here’s Why It’s More Harmful Than You Think 👁️

We’ve all done it — a little rub when your eyes feel itchy, tired, or irritated. But what seems harmless can actually do serious damage over time.

Here’s what happens when you rub your eyes:

🩸 Broken blood vessels: The pressure can rupture tiny blood vessels on the white of your eye, leaving it red and sore.

🦠 Increased risk of infection: Your hands carry bacteria, dirt, and allergens — rubbing transfers them directly into your eyes.

🌀 Corneal damage: Vigorous rubbing can scratch the cornea or even lead to keratoconus, a condition where the cornea thins and bulges outward, causing distorted vision.

😩 Worsened allergies: Rubbing releases histamines, which can make your eyes itchier — creating a vicious cycle.

👁️‍🗨️ Temporary blurred vision: Pressing too hard can momentarily distort your vision due to changes in eye pressure.
