TRE Port Elizabeth/Gq TRE®️-Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises
A body-based self regulation practice supporting nervous system regulation and stress release.

Individual and group sessions available. Facilitated by Janet Ayerst, Certified TRE Provider

“One of the most healing moments in life is when you find the courage to let go of what you can’t change.”

But what if you’re holding on to things… you’re not even aware of?

This is where TRE® comes in.

Your body stores stress, trauma, and tension — often beneath conscious awareness. You might feel it as anxiety, tightness, overwhelm, or just a sense that something isn’t quite right… without knowing why.

Through TRE®, you can begin to gently release what you didn’t even know you were holding on to.

Not by forcing it.
Not by reliving it.
But by allowing your body to do what it was designed to do — let go.

🌿 Not everything needs fixing. Some things need releasing.
🌿 Breathe. Connect. Transform.

If you’re ready to feel lighter, calmer, and more like yourself again… I’m here to guide you 🤍

Why commit to 6–8 TRE® sessions?

Because your nervous system isn’t a quick fix — it’s a relationship.

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) works by gently activating the body’s natural tremor response to release stored stress, tension, and trauma. But true, lasting change happens through consistency, safety, and integration.

✨ Session 1–2:
We build safety. You learn how to allow and stop the tremors, staying in control of your body.

✨ Session 3–4:
Your body begins to trust the process. Patterns of tension start to shift, and you may notice subtle changes in sleep, mood, or reactivity.

✨ Session 5–6:
Deeper layers can safely emerge. The body starts unwinding long-held stress patterns — not by force, but by readiness.

✨ Session 7–8:
Integration and self-regulation. You become more connected, more resilient, and better able to support yourself between sessions.

This isn’t about “fixing” you.
It’s about creating the conditions for your body to let go — at its own pace.

🌿 Not everything needs fixing. Some things need releasing.
🌿 Breathe. Connect. Transform.

If you’re ready to feel more grounded, less reactive, and more like yourself again… this is your invitation.

Do you experience residual tightness from a past injury?
Limited range of motion? Persistent discomfort that persists?
TRE can facilitate the gentle release of deep-seated tension patterns in the body, particularly around old injury sites.

• Alleviate chronic tightness
• Enhance mobility
• Release protective holding patterns
• Support more natural, fluid movement
Sometimes the body is prepared to release tension; it simply requires the right support.

Breathe. Connect. Transform.

There’s a very intentional flow to how we structure our workshops — and your nervous system feels the difference.

We begin with somatic movement.

This isn’t about stretching or performance. It’s about slowing down, bringing awareness into the body, and gently unwinding patterns of holding. It allows you to reconnect, to feel, and to create a sense of safety within your system.

From a nervous system perspective, this is preparation.

You’re softening the armour.
You’re building awareness.
You’re signalling to the body: it’s safe to be here.

Then we pause.

The tea break isn’t just a break — it’s part of the process. It gives your system time to absorb, settle, and integrate those first shifts. Often, this is where subtle changes begin to land.

And then we move into TRE.

Now the body is ready.

Because you’ve already slowed down and connected inwards, the tremors can emerge more naturally, more safely, and often more effectively. The body doesn’t need to fight its way into release — it’s already been given permission.

This sequence matters.

Prepare → Pause → Release

Somatic movement opens the door.
The pause allows the body to catch up.
TRE supports the deeper letting go.

When we work with the nervous system instead of pushing it, the process becomes more easeful, more intelligent, and ultimately more sustainable.

This is how we create a true reset — not by force, but by flow.

You might not think you have trauma…

But do you:

• Struggle to switch off, even when you’re exhausted?
• Feel tense in your shoulders, jaw, or chest most of the day?
• Get overwhelmed by small things?
• Overthink conversations or replay them later?
• Feel like you always have to “hold it together”?
• Keep yourself busy so you don’t have to feel? Grind your teeth and clench your jaw while sleeping?

This isn’t random.

This is your body holding onto stress that never got released.

Your nervous system is still trying to protect you…
even if the danger has passed.

🌿 TRE helps your body do what it was designed to do:
release, reset, and come back to calm.

🌿 You Don’t Choose What Trauma You Release — Your Nervous System Does 🌿

There’s something important I want people to understand about healing…

When you begin working with the body — especially through TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) —
you don’t get to decide what trauma comes up.

Your nervous system decides.

And it does so in its own time, in its own order, and in the way it knows is safest for you.

✨ Not your mind.
✨ Not your logic.
✨ Not your timeline.

Your body.

Your nervous system is constantly scanning for safety (even when you’re not aware of it).
When it feels safe enough, it begins to release stored stress and trauma — often through shaking, trembling, or subtle waves in the body.

This is not random.

This is your biology doing exactly what it was designed to do.

In fact, trauma isn’t just something that lives in your memories —
it’s held in the body as unfinished survival energy that never got to complete its natural cycle. (tre.guide)

Through TRE, we gently activate the body’s natural tremor mechanism —
a built-in way the nervous system uses to discharge stress.

Those tremors aren’t something you “make happen.”
They are something your body allows when it’s ready.

And here’s the part many people don’t expect:

👉 You might be working on “recent stress”…
but your body releases something much older.

👉 You might think you’re ready to process one experience…
but your system goes somewhere completely different.

Why?

Because your body is not trying to tell a story.
It’s trying to restore balance.

Trauma is often stored as tension in the muscles and fascia —
deep patterns of contraction held over time. (TRE® Healing)

And when one part releases, it can affect other areas connected through the body’s fascial system.

This is why healing doesn’t happen in a straight line.

It happens in layers.

🌿 The truth is:

You don’t heal by forcing release.
You heal by creating enough safety for your body to allow release.

And your nervous system will only go as fast as it trusts it can.

So if you’re on this journey…

Be patient with yourself.
Be curious about what arises.
And most importantly — trust your body.

Because it knows.

It always has.

🌿 MYTH vs FACT 🌿

MYTH:
“If you’re doing TRE, you shouldn’t still feel triggered.”

FACT:
TRE isn’t about eliminating triggers — it’s about helping your body release what’s been stored so those triggers have less intensity over time.

When you feel triggered, it doesn’t mean TRE isn’t working.
It often means your nervous system is becoming more aware and ready to process what’s been held inside.

TRE works with the body — not against it.
And the body heals in layers, not all at once.

✨ With TRE, growth can look like:
• Feeling a trigger, but recovering faster
• Noticing sensations in your body instead of shutting down
• Allowing tremors to release stress instead of holding it in
• Having more space between feeling and reacting

Your body isn’t failing you — it’s communicating with you.

💛 Each tremor is your body letting go of what it no longer needs to carry.

You’re not going backwards.
You’re unwinding.

Myth: You should feel better immediately after trauma release work.

Fact: Your nervous system may take time to integrate what was released.

Sometimes symptoms temporarily increase before they settle.

This doesn’t mean it’s not working — it means your system is reorganising.

Healing is a process, not a quick fix.
