This meme made me think.
I mean, REALLY think.

Some of my wounds occurred in childhood, and while they may not have been intentionally inflicted, they are wounds, and not my fault.

A lot of the wounds that have occurred in adulthood, I have to take some responsibility for - for example, a relationship in which I was treated extremely badly - no, not my fault - but I stayed, way way too long. Therefore, I allowed it to continue. I am complicit in my wounding.

Regardless, I am responsible for my own healing. No-one can do it for me. I have learned that ignoring wounds does not make them go away. They just fester.

So, here's to doing the shadow work. Here's to healing; to tending our own wounds, and working out how to heal them. It's an on-going process.

And here's to those who love us, regardless of our broken bits ❤
