Praying within the Spirit
Willem J Henning
The gift of prayer, what a privilege, a power
It is a gift that transcends the limitations of our earthly lives, connecting us directly to the throne of grace, to the very heart of our Almighty God.
**The Source of our Prayer**
**The Source of Our Power**
Let us be clear: this power is not our strength or wisdom that moves mountains, but the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. It is through Him, through His indwelling presence, that our prayers become conduits of divine power. It is through this Power within that things are happening.
**The Mountain-Moving Power of Prayer:**
And what a power we possess through prayer! Ephesians 3:20 reminds us, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." This is not a promise of mere earthly blessings, but a promise of supernatural power – the power to move mountains!
When words are driven by the Holy Spirit thoughts, it is a POWER, it will move and shake the realms around you.
**A Life Transformed by Prayer:**
When we embrace this truth, when we become people of prayer, our lives are transformed. Our fears are calmed, our burdens lifted, our hearts filled with hope. We begin to see the world through the lens of faith, trusting that God is working, even when we cannot see it.
**A Call to Action:**
My friends, I urge you to embrace the power of prayer. Let us become people who pray always, who pray with perseverance, who pray with gratitude. Let us live a life filled with the power of the Holy Spirit within us and watch as mountains move, not by our own strength, but by the power of God working through us.
Text Explained: Ephesians 6:18 - "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."
**The Mandate to Pray Always (Eph 6:18a)**
Prayer is not an optional activity for the Christian - it is a non-negotiable command.
We are called to "pray always" - making it a continual, persistent practice in our lives.
This speaks to God's urgency and importance on our communication with Him.
**The Empowerment of the Spirit (Eph 6:18b)**
Our prayers are not to be offered in our own strength, but "in the Spirit."
It is the Holy Spirit who empowers, guides, and intercedes through our prayers (Rom 8:26-27).
When we pray in the Spirit, we tap into the infinite power and resources of the Godhead.
**The Perseverance of the Saints (Eph 6:18c)**
We are to approach prayer with "all perseverance and supplication."
This requires steadfastness, tenacity, and unwavering faith, even in the face of obstacles.
Like Jacob wrestling with the angel, we must refuse to let go until we receive the blessing (Gen 32:26).
**The Promise of Abundant Provision (Eph 3:20)**
Our God is "able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think."
Through persistent, Spirit-led prayer, the impossible becomes possible (Matt 17:20).
Mountains are moved, lives are transformed, and God's purposes are accomplished.
