Temper Tantrums – Adulting Like a Toddler in a Boardroom
You’re 34, wearing a business suit, and the printer jams. Suddenly you’re yelling, slamming your fist, muttering, and maybe drafting a dramatic resignation note…in crayon. You stomp to the kitchen, knock over the coffee mug, and hear the tiny voice of your 5-year-old self wail, “Why won’t anyone listen to ME?!” That little human inside is very much alive, demanding fairness and attention.
Tool: Pause. Name the trigger — what tiny injustice just happened that feels like a major betrayal?
Take a five-second delay, breathe, and state your feeling: “I feel frustrated and unheard!”
Release the energy safely: walk, stretch, pace, or a shake your body for a few seconds. ✍️ Optional: Journal afterward to track your triggers and patterns. Awareness is the first step.
Some days you may stomp and curse under your breath; some days you might let out a little sigh (or laugh) at your own ridiculousness. Both ways are human — even if the coffee sometimes don't survive. ☕💥
