When I was trying to lose weight, I lived in the all-or-nothing cycle. I’d start a strict diet on Monday, cut out all my favourite foods, and promise myself this time would be different. By Friday, I was starving, frustrated, and usually gave up with a binge. Then I’d restart on Monday.

That cycle kept me stuck for years. The truth is—extreme restriction doesn’t work. It only sets you up to fail, because no one can live without carbs, chocolate, or flexibility forever.

What actually works for weight loss is consistency, not perfection. Eating balanced meals most of the time. Prioritising protein so you stay full. Allowing the foods you love in moderation, so you don’t feel deprived. Training regularly, but not punishing yourself when you miss a day.

Once I let go of the all-or-nothing mindset, I finally started losing fat and keeping it off. I wasn’t chasing perfection anymore—I was building habits I could stick to long-term. And that’s why my results lasted.

If you’ve been stuck in the start-over cycle, know this: weight loss isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about doing the right things consistently 🫶🏼

Eating “clean” 100% of the time doesn’t guarantee fat loss.

You can eat all the chicken, broccoli, & brown rice in the world, but if you’re not in a calorie deficit, the scale won’t move.

On the flip side, you can still lose fat while enjoying chocolate or pizza in moderation.

The real key?

Balance.

Restriction often leads to bingeing, which keeps you stuck in the same cycle.

Fat loss isn’t about perfect eating—it’s about creating consistency you can actually stick to.

Oh, the things we believed when we started our fitness/weight loss journey 😅

I used to train abs every single day thinking I could crunch my way to a flat stomach. Plot twist: you can’t spot reduce fat. Your belly fat doesn’t care how many crunches you do if your diet isn’t sorted.

Then there was my brilliant strategy of copying whatever the fittest girl at the gym was doing. Because clearly, if it worked for her advanced self, it would work for beginner me, right? Wrong. I was doing advanced moves with terrible form & wondering why I felt broken.

& the soreness obsession? I genuinely believed that if I wasn’t hobbling around like a newborn giraffe the next day, I hadn’t worked hard enough. Turns out, constant soreness just means you’re not recovering properly & probably overtraining.

Here’s the truth: compound movements, progressive overload, & proper recovery beat trendy workouts & daily soreness every time.

Save this if you needed to hear it. Your beginner self would thank you.

Every training session is an investment in your future self!

Physically, you’re building stronger muscles, healthier bones, & better cardiovascular health. Your posture improves. Your energy increases. Your body becomes more resilient.

Mentally, you’re proving to yourself that you can show up even when you don’t feel like it. You’re building discipline, confidence, & mental toughness that carries into every area of your life.

The weights you struggled with last month feel lighter today. The voice that said “you can’t” gets quieter each week.

Progress isn’t always visible on the outside, but it’s always happening on the inside.

Guys, I can't wait 😳

Here are some photos taken during my prep 🌸

I'm stepping on stage again in two weeks time! I'm excited to see what progress I've made this past year.

What ride that was... After breaking my ankle in January 2023 I decided to focus on recovery. I figured I would prep again when I felt ready & here I am 🙌🏼

Movement is essential for a healthy, balanced life✨

Whether you’re traveling to distant lands or simply taking a walk in your local park, staying active is crucial.

♥︎ Improves physical health
♥︎ Boosts mental health
♥︎ Increases energy levels
♥︎ Enhances mood
♥︎ Supports weight management
♥︎ Improves sleep quality
♥︎ Promotes longevity

By keeping these benefits in mind, you can stay motivated on days when getting active feels like a chore. Remind yourself why you started & what you stand to gain!

Building discipline takes time, but the rewards are worth it. No matter where you are or what you do, make moving a priority.

It’s one of the best gifts you can give yourself! 🎁

If you're thinking "she looks tired" then you're right, my friend 🤪 the last four weeks of a prep is always the hardest especially when the energy levels are extremely low. You start to question your sanity 😂

I'm tired as hell & craving all the delicious things. It's moments like this that proof to me I can do anything I set my mind to.

Just over two weeks left! 🥳

Some of my favourite quotes about weight loss 🔥

"Just believe in yourself. Even if you don't, pretend that you do, & at some point, you will."
- Venus Williams

"If you eat what you've always eaten, you'll weigh what you have always weighed."

"I just think you should eat less of everything. A little bit less. I don't want to live a life where you can't have what you want; it just makes you want it more."
- Drew Barrymore

"Your body can do anything. It's your brain you have to convince."

"It's about taking the time before food goes in your mouth to be aware: Am I aware that I'm eating this? Am I eating it because I'm hungry or because I need to soothe myself?"
- Valerie Bertinelli

"Stop rewarding yourself with food. You are not a dog."

"Fitness: If it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body."
- Cher

"A huge part of losing weight is believing you can do it & realising it's not going to happen overnight."

When it comes to losing weight, understanding the calorie content of your food is crucial.

Many foods that seem healthy at first glance can actually be packed with hidden calories & sugar.

Take dried fruit versus berries, for example. Dried fruit contains far more calories & sugar per 100g compared to fresh berries.

It's easy to overlook these differences, but they can significantly impact your weight loss journey.

If you’re serious about losing weight, it’s essential to know how many calories you need to consume each day.

This means not just guessing, but actually tracking your intake.

I personally use an app called MyFitnessPal to help me keep tabs on my daily calorie consumption.

This tool has been invaluable for me, ensuring that I stay within my calorie limits & don't inadvertently sabotage my progress.

While dried fruit can be a convenient snack, its high calorie & sugar content make it a less ideal choice if you're trying to lose weight.

This isn't to say you can never enjoy dried fruit, chocolate, or baked goods – moderation is key.

However, being aware of your calorie content allows you to make informed choices & balance your diet effectively.

Tracking calories might seem tedious at first, but it becomes second nature with time.

Staying lean requires discipline, & for me, that means tracking my calories daily.

It helps me enjoy the foods I love without overindulging.

Whether it’s chocolate, baked goods, or any other treat, knowing the calorie impact helps me fit them into my diet without exceeding my limits.
