You must make the first move...
In order to shift illness, it requires that we make the first move. We believe that life begins when we heal but that is actually backwards. Illness is caused by a nervous system that learned it is not safe to be you.
Our nervous system’s primary function is to keep us safe and alive. From the beginning of our existence, it is scanning our environment and learning: what gets our needs met and ensures our survival; and what gets in the way and destroys our ability to get our needs met, and therefore threatens our survival... The nervous system remembers it all (the body keeps the score).
The nervous system creates neural networks that reinforce the behaviours that keep us safe. These behaviours become our autopilot and we act in this altered way. To us it may seem that is ‘just who we are’, but the mind and body are interpreting this as: the threat is still present, it’s still not safe to be you otherwise why would you still behave that way.
This ‘not safe’ chronic signalling changes how everything functions in the body. Overtime, eventually this altered functioning manifests as illness.
When illness arrives the actual message is: it’s no longer sustainable for you to not be yourself - not life is on pause til I feel better...
In order to heal, you must take action. You must make the first move.
Illness arrives to say: “This adapted behaviour no longer serves you. You came here to be you!"
Illness is guiding us back to the truth of who we are and why we are here. It is an initiator. It is for us to decide if we are going to listen and then act.
The body has faithfully carried whatever non-truth for us for years – whether it’s that we aren’t good enough, or too much, too emotional, bad, a failure, stupid, worthless, weak, etc. When illness shows up, it is saying the body can't carry this anymore and it's now your job to take over to uncover what is actually true for you, so that you can start to live from your divine story and not your wounded story.
