Did your know bleeding after childbirth is not actually menstruation? It’s called Lochia.

Whether you had a C-section or delivered vaginally, you will have bleeding. It usually lasts around six to eight weeks after giving birth. This is a normal part of recovery after birth.

There are three stages of Lochia bleeding.

~ Lochia Rubra (dark or bright red blood)
~ Lochia Serosa (Pinkish brown discharge)
~ Lochia Alba (Yellowish white discharge)

Remember: Contact your healthcare provider if your discharge is extremely smelly, if you are experiencing excessive bleeding(soaking a pad every hour) and excessive clotting.

Tips: Give your body time to heal. Rest is essential for you. Take one day at a time.
