Suid- Afrikaners volg diëte wat baie keer hoog is in energie, vette sout en suiker en laag is in vesel weens ‘n lae inname van groente, vrugte en volgraanprodukte. ‘n Groot faktor is die inname van geprosesseerde kosse in die vorm van kitsklaar maaltye en al hoe minder maaltye wat tuis voorberei word.

Veral ons kinders lei hieronder. Swak eetgewoontes begin reeds in kleuterfase. Kleuterskole wat maaltye bedien, skole met snoepies, versorgers en ouers moet hande vat om beter opsies vir ons kinders beskikbaar te stel om te verseker dat hulle voldoende gevoed word om hulle vol programme te kan handhaaf. ‘n Dieetkundige het die nodige kennis om hiermee behulpsaam te wees.
