[πŸ“IN PICTURES πŸ“Έ] - 🧼 Hand Wash Campaign – Augrabies Satellite Clinic, Kai !Garib Sub-District

On Friday, the Augrabies Satellite Clinic successfully conducted a Hand Wash Campaign aimed at strengthening hand hygiene practices and raising awareness on tick bites as part of the prevention of viral hemorrhagic fever.

A Dietician also engaged the community on breastfeeding and bottle-feeding hygiene, highlighting safe feeding practices and the importance of hygiene in preventing infections in infants and young children.

The event was supported by the local doctor, the Health Allied Team, the District IPC Clinical Programme Manager, and Environmental Health Practitioners from the ZFM District.

Key Hygiene Messages Emphasised:
β€’ Use bins provided – dispose of all general and medical waste in the correct containers.
β€’ Report concerns – report illegal dumping and overflowing bins.
β€’ Reduce waste – encourage single-use waste reduction where possible.
β€’ Keep it clean – avoid littering at clinics 🚯 and encourage others to do the same.

Their combined efforts reflect the Department’s continued commitment to strengthening infection prevention and control, improving child health, and promoting healthier communities. πŸ’§πŸŒΏ

[πŸ“IN PICTURES πŸ“Έ] - ZFM District: Adolescent & Youth Friendly Services (AYFS) Training

Over the past three days, the ZF Mgcawu District conducted AYFS training for health facility champions across the district.

International studies show that many adolescents and young people are less likely to use public health facilities due to various barriers. This training is part of our ongoing effort to change that.

Through AYFS, we aim to:

1️⃣ Create a safe, supportive and youth-friendly environment in our health facilities.
2️⃣ Ensure that health services are accessible, acceptable and responsive to the needs of adolescents and youth.
3️⃣ Implement national standards and criteria for adolescent and youth health care in clinics.
4️⃣ Build the capacity of healthcare workers to provide quality youth-centred services.

We encourage all young people to visit their nearest clinic and enquire about the available AYFS days and times. Your health matters, and we are committed to making our services welcoming and supportive for you.
