Let’s talk about the “unseen” part of leading.
I’ll be honest—this particular coaching session stayed with me long after it ended. It was a beautiful, raw reminder of a truth we often try to polish away:
The "Whole Leader" is just a whole human being.
Some days, we feel like we’re on fire—clear, decisive, unstoppable. Other days? We’re just tired. We’re human. And that’s okay.
In my world of Organization Development, we spend so much time obsessing over "systems" and "strategies." But the most complex system you’ll ever manage is the one happening inside your own heart and mind.
I’ve realized that EQ isn’t just a "soft skill" or a line on a resume. It’s the bedrock. If we don’t take a beat to understand our own emotional "weather," we’ll never realize how much we’re raining on our teams—or how much sun we could be bringing to them.
A little reflection for your week:
If your current mood was a stone dropped into a still pool of water... what kind of ripples is it sending out to your team today? 🌊
Growth doesn’t always happen in a boardroom. Usually, it starts in a quiet moment of self-awareness.
It’s okay to be a "work in progress" while you’re building something successful. In fact, I think that’s the only way to do it sustainably. 🤍
