I read a few pages from James Clear's "Atomic Habits" today:
Lesson for the day🤓:
Don't give up because you can't see the 'observable form of success' yet. Whether that's success in the context of motherhood, fatherhood, illness, health, business, money, a relationship, academics, charity etc.
According to James Clear, your tiny but consistent efforts—habits—are what ultimately lead to you experiencing observable, significant success. These are the habits that no one sees. The habits that seem insignificant to you, and frankly, to everyone around you.
But, according to James Clear, the quality of your habits will either break or make your trajectory in the long term.
It makes me think of how I constantly have to put my faith in God into practice, especially during times of uncertainty and delayed gratification.
I think there's a lot of discipline, grit, endurance, and a sense of grace that you will develop when you work consistently towards a goal for a long period of time, even without a significant sign of success and not knowing what the definite outcome will be.
And I'm not talking about working aimlessly without having a realistic, measurable plan. From my experience, there are more days where I have to work towards my goals while feeling a lot of uncertainty. And it's very, very easy to give up at that point. I do give up sometimes.
So I reflect and ask myself, "What perspectives/behaviors keep me going on such days?"🧐
