We are feeling so incredibly moved and blessed.

This past weekend, a dear friend of ours in the UK, Naudé, showed his incredible support for Leané in a truly special way. While running the Paris Marathon, he carried Leané’s name right there on his arm, bringing her story and her fight to the streets of France. 🏅🇫🇷

As Leané continues her journey with AML, moments like these remind us that she is never running this race alone. Whether it’s across oceans or right here at home, the outpouring of love, prayers, and solidarity keeps her spirits high.

We serve a God who knows no borders, and seeing Riaan honor Leané’s strength on such a global stage is a beautiful testament to the power of friendship and faith.

Leané Update 🌸

Our brave Leané continues to inspire us every single day.

Today, Leané practiced some exercises with her sensei – with a smile and a strength that can only come from above ✨

We are incredibly grateful to also share some good news:
Dr Nkabi informed us today that three perfect bone marrow transplant matches have been identified for Leané 🙏🏻
The process is currently underway to confirm everything with the marrow donors and to make the necessary preparations. We will receive further feedback as soon as everything is ready.

Leané’s third round of chemo is going really well, and she has already been disconnected from her drip — something that has never happened so soon after treatment before. They will be doing some tests tomorrow, and we pray to our Almighty God for even more wonderful news.

Our hearts are full of gratitude and hope.

Hello friends and family,

We are sorry that we have been quiet for a while.

After almost three months in the hospital, days that sometimes felt endless and overwhelming, we finally received the most beautiful news — the doctors allowed Leané to go home for the Easter break, from last Tuesday until this coming Monday.

And when I say home, I mean White River 😁

There are truly no words to describe what this means to us. After everything, being able to walk through our own front door again, even just for a little while, feels like a miracle. It has brought a kind of peace and joy to our hearts that we haven’t felt in such a long time.

Seeing Leané eating well, smiling, and simply being surrounded by her family and a few close friends has been incredibly emotional.

These are the moments we held onto and prayed for during the hardest days. To see her like this again… it means so much to us.

It is so hard that time is so short, and that we can’t see everyone we wish we could. Please know that each one of you has been on this journey with us in our hearts. We truly hope and pray that we will be able to come home to White River again soon and spend proper time with all of you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for every message, every prayer, every kind word, and every bit of love you have sent our way. There were days when we felt like we had nothing left — and it was your support and prayers that carried us through. We have felt it, every single day.

Hello friends and family 🌻

The past few days have been incredibly tough, with vomiting and fever, but we were also blessed with two special days where we could spend time with a wonderful group of friends from the hospital.

We had the chance to go out to Create Wolvespruit to paint and work with clay, and it was such a gift to step away from the hospital for a little while — to laugh, connect, and just feel a sense of normality again.

A heartfelt thank you to The Reach For A Dream Foundation for making this day possible. You bring so much light, hope, and joy during some of the hardest moments, and we are deeply grateful.

We feel truly blessed for every beautiful moment, every person walking this journey with us, and for God’s grace that carries us each and every day 🤍🙏🏻

Update on Leané

Hello Friends and Family ❤️

Both Tuesday and yesterday were good days. Leané ate well after a few days of almost eating nothing, Leané wrote her school tests, and she and a few of the children in the hospital went to the little park in their ward to do some painting and Leané really enjoyed it.

Yesterday Leane felt a bit tired, but she still managed to eat and enjoyed her exercise session with Sensei Moses.

Leané's appetite remains poor, and her weight and muscle mass have decreased.

We continue to stand strong in our faith and hold on to hope. Thank you so much to everyone for your prayers, love, and support — it truly means the world to us 🎗️🤍🙏🏻

Daardie glimlag… 😁

Selfs tussen hospitaalmasjiene, behandelings en moeilike dae, kies sy nog steeds om te glimlag. Haar krag en moed bly vir ons ’n inspirasie elke dag.

Ons is ook ongelooflik dankbaar vir die wonderlike mense en organisasies wat moeite doen om die kinders se dae hier in die hospitaal op te kikker. Daardie klein oomblikke van vreugde – soos ’n ballon hondjie en ’n rede om te lag – beteken soveel meer as wat woorde kan sê.

Dankie Liewe Heer dat ons steeds lig kan sien, selfs in die donker dae. 🙏🏻🧡

Hello friends and family,

Here is an update on Leané.

Leané had a good day today and was her usual cheerful self. She wrote her first school test today (Natural Science). As you can see in the photo, she might not have been fully prepared, but she still did her best and kept a smile on her face.

Leané also received more blood today and is still in her recovery period. At the moment, we do not have any further updates, but we are grateful that she is doing well and is in good spirits.

God is good.

Update on Leané 🌻

Doctors informed Melissa this morning that Leané’s first round of chemotherapy was unfortunately not successful. The treatment did not have the desired effect on the cancer.

Leané is currently undergoing her second round of chemotherapy. After completing this round and a recovery period of approximately 2 to 4 weeks, Leané will begin one of the strongest chemotherapy treatments available.

This intensive treatment will last 7 days and is aimed at aggressively targeting and destroying the cancer cells.

If this stronger chemotherapy is successful, Leané will then be able to proceed with a bone marrow transplant.
Following the transplant, Leané will be placed in isolation for approximately 6 weeks, as both the chemotherapy and the transplant will significantly weaken her immune system.
During this time, only Melissa will be allowed to visit her.

This is an incredibly difficult and emotional time for Leané and her family. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the challenging road ahead🎗️🧡🙏🏻
