🔍 Let’s talk about Sextortion in higher learning institutions.
Sextortion is when someone in a position of power like a lecturer, supervisor, or administrator abuses that power to demand sexual favors in exchange for grades, opportunities, or protection.
🚩 Red flags: when you hear or see this, REPORT:
“See me after class.” (said in a suggestive tone or repeatedly without academic reason)
“Come to my office… alone.” (delivered in a way it feels intimidating, secretive or inappropriate)
“I know your computer number.” (used to intimidate or track your grades)
“Do this for me, and I’ll help you pass.”
“We can work this out… in private.”
Unnecessary late-night calls or messages from your lecturer.
Pressure to keep meetings or conversations “just between us.”
Being asked to meet in hotels, secluded offices, or off-campus for “school matters.”
Threats to fail you, block your results, or ruin your reputation if you refuse.
Requests for sexual favours in exchange for academic help or opportunities.
