β OVARIAN CYSTS IN WOMEN
Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop in or on a womanβs ovaries. They can occur in one or both ovaries. These cysts may cause severe, sharp painsβsometimes more intense than labor pains.
If a cyst grows large, it can displace reproductive organs or twist (ovarian torsion), leading to extreme pain. When a cyst ruptures, it may cause internal bleeding, scarring, or adhesions (where organs stick together).
They are most common in women of childbearing age, though they can occasionally occur after menopause.
Causes of Ovarian Cysts

Irregular menstrual cycles

Use of emergency or morning-after pills

Hormonal imbalance

Pelvic infections

Cigarette smoking
β
Fertility treatments (e.g. Gonadotropins, Clomiphene/Clomid)
