BRAIN CARE & AWARENESS IDEATHON 2025 IS HERE!!
APPLICATIONS ARE STILL OPEN!!!
Be part of this first-of-its-kind, ‘Brain Care & Awareness Ideathon 2025, an innovative and research-driven challenge themed “Caring for Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Zambia.”
This program is organised by our team in collaboration with the Alzheimers Disease and Related Dementias in Zambia - ADDIZ and the Zambia Research and Development Centre - ZRDC.

OPEN to all undergraduate students from different disciplines within the healthcare, from health sciences, nursing, public health, psychology, social work, and related fields


Online Stage (24th–26th October 2025):
- Participants apply as teams of three (from any health-related or social science background). Teams will receive a real-life case scenario on dementia care challenges and work to develop short proposal presentations guided by expert mentors.

Physical Stage (1st November 2025 – Lusaka):
- The top five finalist teams will present their proposals before expert judges from ADDIZ, ZRDC, and academia. The top three teams will receive Cash Prizes, while the remaining teams will have the opportunity to participate in national research for publication and mentorship.

All participants receive certificates of participation and recognition.

CALL FOR APPLICATION NOW OPEN: ZAMBIA IDEATHON COMPETITION, CARING FOR ALZHEIMER'S AND DEMENTIA (ZRDC, ADDIZ, MRIC)

Are you ready to take part in a national challenge that encourages innovation and practical problem-solving?

The Copperbelt University Mentorship and Research Interest Club, in partnership with Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Zambia (ADDIZ) and the Zambia Research Development Centre (ZRDC), invites applications for the In Zambia Ideathon, a national research competition focused on Caring for Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Zambia.

This week-long competition aims to challenge students to develop evidence-based research projects that address critical issues surrounding neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s and Dementia care in Zambia.

Participants will work in groups of three (3) to develop innovative solutions to a simulated real-life problem related to Alzheimer’s and Dementia care. Additionally, You may apply individually and later be teamed.

We’re excited to announce our partnership with the Cbu-Som Mentorship And Research Interest Group (CBU MRIC) and the Zambia Research Development Centre (ZRDC) to host the first-ever “Caring for Dementia and Alzheimer’s in Zambia Ideathon”!🧠🇿🇲

This national research simulation competition is designed to empower undergraduate students in healthcare programs to develop innovative, evidence-based solution that address real challenges in dementia and Alzheimer’s care in Zambia.

💡 Participants will work in teams of three to design impactful research projects from simulated case scenarios—bridging classroom learning with real-world problem solving.
