This year’s World Diabetes Day theme, “Diabetes and Wellbeing,” rightly highlights the importance of providing appropriate care and support within the workplace.
As ZimSmart Villages, we recognise the critical role employers play in ensuring access to screening, education, and medication for their teams.

But our work in communities also reveals another reality, one that is often overlooked.

Many of the individuals living with diabetes whom we meet during our outreaches are not formally employed.
They have no workplace wellness programmes, no medical benefits, and no structured support.
For them, access to medication is not about wellbeing; it is about affordability and survival.

Their voices remind us why last-mile health access matters.

As we commemorate World Diabetes Day, ZimSmart Villages remains committed to building community-centered systems that ensure no one is left out, employed or not.
Wellbeing must reach every household, every village, every person.

🌟 ZimSmart Villages Expands Frontiers - Bringing eHealth to Ntunungwe, Bulilima! 🌟

We are proud to announce the official opening of the BatsiHealth TeleHealth Kiosk in Ntunungwe, Bulilima District, Matabeleland South, made possible through our partnership with NetOne and the incredible support of the Member of Parliament for Bulilima Constituency, Hon. Dingumuzi Phuti - who also serves as the Deputy Minister of ICTs. 🇿🇼✨

This milestone reflects our continued commitment to digital inclusion, healthcare access, and community empowerment - ensuring that even the most remote communities are not left behind in Zimbabwe’s digital transformation journey. 🩺💻

This initiative reaffirms our mission to digitize one village at a time - ensuring that every Zimbabwean can access healthcare, information, and opportunity, no matter where they are.

✨ What This Means:
Through the Ntunungwe eHealth Kiosk, residents can now access virtual medical consultations, obtain prescriptions remotely, and receive timely medical advice without the burden of travelling long distances to healthcare facilities. The kiosk bridges the gap between rural communities and medical professionals - bringing healthcare closer to the people, saving time, costs, and even lives.

During the official opening, the transformative power of telehealth was demonstrated as a patient at the Ntunungwe Kiosk was consulted in real time by a doctor based in Nyanga, showcasing how technology can truly transcend distance to deliver quality healthcare where it’s needed most. 🌍💚
