Zimbabwe Sustainable Clubfoot Program - ZSCP Zimbabwe Sustainable Clubfoot Programme (ZSCP)

Vision
To champion a clubfoot-free nation

Zimbabwe Sustainable Clubfoot Programme (ZSCP) was established in 2010 to address the need for effective and sustainable treatment of children with clubfoot. This need was identified through encountering cases of poorly managed clubfoot during community outreach and other research. ZSCP supports clubfoot activities at eight clinics in Harare, Manicaland, Midlands, Mashonaland Central, West, and East, Matebeleland North and South, and Masvingo. ZSCP works through Ministry of Health and Child Welfare (MoHCW) facilities to ensure sustainability and aims to train MoHCW medical staff and set up clubfoot clinics in all 10 provinces of the country to treat children with the Ponseti method. ZSCP provides clinical support and materials where these facilities are unable to provide them due to funding restraints. This makes treatment and braces accessible to all patients, free of charge. All parents are educated in clubfoot care through counseling and use of educational materials to increase treatment compliance. Zimbabwe has a strong commitment to rehabilitation and preventative medicine, with health care professionals open to minimally invasive treatments such as the Ponseti Method. Physiotherapists run the clubfoot clinics in collaboration with hospital doctors who perform tenotomies under local anesthesia. ZSCP has a strong relationship with the Ministry of Health and is able to produce its own braces at an in-country, low-cost, brace-making facility.
