❄️YEAST INFECTION - CANDIDIASIS
What is a yeast infection?
✍🏼Vaginal yeast infections, or candidiasis, are fungal infections of the va**na. They are caused by a fungus called Candida.
✍🏼📚This fungus is always present in the va**na, and usually it exists happily among the many good bacteria that balance it out. 🤷🏽♂️However, when a woman takes antibiotics that kill off all that natural biome, the Candida might start to grow out of control. *When that happens, you get a yeast infection.*
If you are not already familiar with the symptoms of yeast infection, consider yourself lucky. They are very uncomfortable and can include:_
¶Intense itching in and around the va**na, including the v***a.
¶Irritation.
¶Burning.
¶Pain or discomfort when urinating.
¶Pain during in*******se.
¶White, clumpy discharge that smells like bread.
¶In extreme cases, yeast infections can cause redness, swelling, and cracks in the va**nal wall.
Why do you get a yeast infection from antibiotics?
✍🏼A woman’s va**na maintains its own balanced mix of yeast and bacteria._
✍🏼 Antibiotics can destroy bacteria that protect the va**na, or may alter the balance of bacteria present.
✍🏼A type of bacteria called Lactobacillus keeps the va**na slightly acidic, which keeps the yeast at bay. 🤷🏽♂️But broad-spectrum antibiotics change all that. They destroy the bad bacteria causing your illness. But they also wipe out beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacillus. When there is less Lactobacillus in your va**na, it becomes less acidic, and therefore a perfect environment for yeast.
✍🏽There are more than 20 types of Candida and they can live in our bodies causing no problems at all.
However, in warm, moist conditions the fungi can multiply and cause infections. These can range from the harmless but irritating, some of them are va**nal thrush or nappy rash and infections that spread through the entire body, especially with the weakened immune systems can be life-threatening. Adults can also have yeast infections under the breast and beneath other skin folds.
❄️Types of candidiasis❄️
*Oral candidiasis or Esophagitis:* Candidiasis that occurs in the mouth is a mycosis of Candida species present in the mucous membrane of the mouth.
*Vaginal candidiasis:* Candidiasis in the va**na is commonly called a va**nal yeast infection or va**nal thrust.
*Nail candidiasis:* When dermatophytes infect the nails, the nails become thick, swollen and tender, split, become dull, and may fall off.
*Armpit candida:* when candida species affects the skin under armpit eventually skin turns red and can be little raw.
