Groves Hospital Foundation's Mission: Dedicated to raising and stewarding funds for Groves Memorial Community Hospital, to ensure that the residents of Centre Wellington and surrounding areas receive optimal health care. Current Campaign - The New Groves Hospital Project: Our community deserves the best healthcare. A positive patient experience is at the forefront of our thinking. Our new facility

will be a model in the delivery of patient-centered rural healthcare. It will have the ability to deliver a model of care that aligns with best practice; it will be capable of accommodating modern technology, providing a framework to address future flexibility and changes in technology; it will have welcoming public spaces and comforting views; meet accessibility standards; our new Inpatient Unit will be 80% private rooms; it will provide facilities that meet infection prevention and control standards and reflect best practices and evidence-based design; the overall footprint of our new hospital will almost double in size to meet the demands of our growing community. Measles, a highly contagious viral infection, is showing a rise in local communities, and health officials are urging individuals to be aware of the symptoms and take necessary precautions.

It was a pleasure meeting with Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae, Wellington-Halton MPP Joseph Racinsky, and Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner yesterday, alongside the team from Guelph General Hospital.

We received an adorable photo & message from baby Zaia’s mom; “Hi there, Just wanted to send along our baby selfie in the sweet little onesie we got the day my baby girl Zaia was born (October 2024). She was very small, so she is finally fitting in it now at 5 months old. As a first-time mom, I was not sure what to expect. And the thought of giving birth was so scary and overwhelming for me. Fortunately for me I had such a beautiful experience. My midwives, the OB, and the nurses were all so wonderful, encouraging and very supportive. Thank you all for making our birth story so incredible!”

Spring has Sprung! And soon, so will the beautiful Healing & Pollinator Gardens behind Groves. Lovingly maintained by the volunteers of Elora & Salem Horticultural Society, these gardens make the outside space at our hospital welcoming & beautiful. With a paved pathway funded by our generous donors, it is now easier than ever to visit our gardens. Thank you ESHS for all your hard work volunteering! 🌿🌼🌻🌷🌾🪻

We attended the Elora & Salem Horticultural Society (ESHS) Spring Horticultural Event yesterday at The GrandWay Events Centre! Our both was hosted by Foundation Board Member, Pamela Stumpf (Refreshed & Refined Interiors) and her little sister from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington. It was a wonderful event and we are grateful for all the work the ESHS does to beautify our community, particularly their care and planning of the back gardens at GMCH. 🌻🌷🍃🌿🌳

March 12, 2025, marks World Delirium Awareness Day (WDAD), an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about delirium and its effects on patients, families, and healthcare systems. This day highlights the importance of early detection and intervention, while also promoting the latest research, guidelines, and best practices.
At WHCA, our frontline staff are trained to recognize and support patients experiencing delirium. Additional services, including the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) and Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) nurses, offer non-pharmacological interventions and best practices to help prevent delirium.

Beginning March 3rd cervical screening providers, such as family doctors, nurse practitioners, and midwives will be offering the human papillomavirus (HPV) test to replace the Pap test as the new primary cervical cancer screening method. Launched provincially, this new HPV-based test leads to early detection, preventing long term impacts of cervical cancer.

Early detection of HPV plays a key role in screening for cancers, so that patients know the right action to take. The Ontario Cervical Screening program detects high-risk cancer-causing HPV in the cervix so that patients can have early intervention before a disease progresses. The virus can also lead to warts and other types of cancers including throat, a**l, pe**le, vaginal, and vulvar. It is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) and can be detected early with the right testing procedures to identify infections and check for cervical cell changes that can lead to cancer.

We are so excited for the advancements in diagnostic technology the new CT brings to our patients and the enhanced accuracy it offers our physicians and diagnostic team. County of Wellington recently donated & planted some spruce trees to act as a living snow fence along Fredrick Campbell Street, as part of their Living Snow Fence Programme. Planting trees to work as living snow fences can be an effective way to reduce the blowing and drifting snow and help with road Maintenace in the winter! 🌲❄️☃Living snow fences are a low-cost & environmentally sustainable option that produce the same results as manufactured fencing 🌱A special shoutout to Jamie Katerberg, GMCH Building Services Supervisor, for spearheading this green initiative & working with the County to have the trees donated & planted. 👏🏼
