Virtual care / telehealth services have kept our clients safe while they receive treatment and care at home, but we have had clients tell us about other benefits they've experienced after they transitioned from in-clinic sessions. This week’s 'Connected Care Story' looks at how a client was able to refocus his treatments on functional restoration rather than pain management. https://www.cbi.ca/connectedcare-functional-restoration

Mental health and well-being is a core pillar of CBI Health’s integrated approach to healthcare. It is important to have open, honest conversations about mental health, and to start these conversations early. To help with these conversations about mental health in youth, we are proud to support Buddy Check for Jesse, a program that encourages coaches to talk with their teams about ending the stigmas surrounding mental health.

This year the program has expanded to include all coached sports, all-year-round, all across the country. While some sports are currently on hold due to the pandemic, if you know a youth in organized sports, please make their coach and/or manager aware of this program.

You can find conversation guides and support materials as a free download on their website: https://bit.ly/2HLHknp

CBI Health continues to support clients across Canada throughout the pandemic, when and where they need it most. A new client was referred to us after suffering from anxiety after a car accident, which increased even more after experiencing social isolation when the pandemic hit.

After transitioning from in-person treatment to virtual care, our team worked with her to navigate her feelings, encouraging her to write down her thoughts in between sessions. This acted as a new creative lens for her to express herself in a meaningful way and enabled her to better manage her anxiety. Read the story: https://www.cbi.ca/en/connected-covidpoem

CBI Health is a proudly Canadian company. For Canada Day 2020, we reflect on our country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our future – with a distinctly humble sense of Canadian pride and optimism.

The pandemic has affected every one of us. It has become a generationally defining period in our history and we are only at the beginning of this story. However, it has been heartening to see how the Canadian people have responded to this crisis. From coast to coast, there have been countless heartwarming stories of kindness, of neighbours helping neighbours, and a vast outpouring of support and love for frontline workers of all types.

This is a defining moment for the world, for our country, and for each one of us. We should all appreciate the contribution our sacrifices have made to the greater good, and not let our commitment fade as we enter into a new phase.

On Canada Day, and all days, we are proud to be Canadian.

Our physiotherapists at CBI Health have been working tirelessly to ensure that our clients are still getting exceptional care and treatment during the pandemic, even when physical contact is not an option. They have positively impacted our clients’ well-being and helped them stay active and mobile in this challenging time. The team has embraced our virtual care/telehealth program and found new ways to collaborate and share information and best practices with their colleagues nationwide. Their effort to achieve this in such a quick period has been tremendous, and our entire team truly appreciates it.

To our physiotherapists across Canada – Thank you for rising to the challenge and for everything you do to help our clients achieve their health and wellness goals.

"Nature is a tool to get children to not only experience the wider world, but themselves." -Stephen Moss

What a week the 6 to 9 year olds had at Get Wild. Many of our 16 campers have attended all of our Get Wild camps. It has been awesome to see them grow and mature like the forest around us.

The focus of this years group was discovery natural movement and team work... oh and Steve our squirrel friend.

"My fav moment from this past week with the campers was the day we hiked into the forest and the kids were given the task of building a shelter. How quickly they went from not knowing where to start to working together to build three amazing shelters. With very little assistance from the leaders. It was incredible to watch them problem solve and take such pride in their work". - Jenn (leader)

Thank you to our leaders Bonnee, Jenn and Sasha for helping the campers connect with nature, each other and themselves. Thank you Travis for encouraging these kiddos to kick off their shoes and MovNat every morning.

Get Wild was created to fill a void in outdoor summer preschool education in Prince Albert. Through our partnership with L'Ecole Des Petits we have been able to offer nature based education and exploration lead by early childhood educators. Every year our camp expands and this year we welcomed 28 campers from near and far. We are honoured to have families travel from as far as Swift Current to attend our week in the wild. Thank you Campers for spending the week with us.

This year our 3 to 5 year olds hiked, created, explored, discovered and moved in the wild. We would like to thank our dedicated leaders Jara, Sonia, Krystal, AJ and Brittany for sharing your talents with our campers.
