"Conclusion: Using supplementation with 400 mg magnesium for 12 weeks in patients with metabolic syndrome, ionized magnesium concentrations significantly increased, while serum magnesium did not change significantly. Both systolic and diastolic blood pressure values decreased significantly in the magnesium-treated group. Magnesium supplementation also significantly decreased interleukin-6 levels and increased vitamin D in patients. HbA1c and cholesterol levels improved with magnesium supplementation, but the improvement did not reach significance. The anti-inflammatory effects of magnesium as well as anti-arteriosclerotic effects of magnesium therapy are beneficial for patients with metabolic syndrome at high risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality."

So many benefits to magnesium, including improving headaches, helping with sleep, and all the above. It is involved in over 600 biochemical processes in the body!

Conclusions: This study revealed a causal relationship between creatine and UC. Creatine supplementation ameliorated chronic colitis by inhibiting the colonic infiltration of macrophages and promoting its polarization towards M2 phenotype. These results offer new insight into the pathogenesis of UC, emphasizing a potential protective role of creatine for UC.

Vitamin D deficiency was prevalent among children and adolescents with COVID-19. Some studies suggested that vitamin D deficiency significantly increased the risk of COVID-19 infection and was linked to disease progression. Furthermore, deficiency in vitamin D demonstrated an association with increased levels of inflammatory markers, reduced lymphocyte counts, and heightened clinical symptoms, including fever and cough. Maintaining adequate vitamin D levels may be a crucial strategy for reducing COVID-19 severity and associated complications in children and adolescents.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exerted a notable impact on worldwide health across diverse age groups. Although children and adolescents were initially considered less vulnerable, they have also shown susceptibility to the virus, emphasizing the importance of understanding associated risk factors. Epidem...

According to the second level of vitamin D, there was a 14.3% difference in positive infection rates between the vitamin D adequate (> 30 ng/mL) and deficient groups (< 20 ng/mL). Adequate vitamin D had a tendency to prevent COVID-19.

And idea levels, above 50 ng/ml would probably have been even more beneficial! No surprise here

We aimed to investigate the preventive effect of vitamin D2 on COVID-19 and the improvement of symptoms after COVID-19 infection. The study recruited 228 health care workers who tested negative PCR or antigen for COVID-19. Subjects were randomly allocated to vitamin D2 or non-intervention at a ratio...

Time to revisit Vitamin D. Many patients stopped supplementing after the pandemic "ended", but it is still the most effective way of giving your body a boost against any respiratory infection, including both the Flu and Covid 19. Studies show that optimizing levels, above 50 ng/ml, can be as high as 75% effective to prevent infections, while typical vaccines are at typically at 50%. 5000 iu a day is safe and effective. Getting a vitamin D blood test is simple and easy if you want to know your levels before, but remember the optimal levels listed as "normal" on these test say 30-100, while it should be 50 minimal. Remember just like RDA's, the minimal levels were established to prevent disease, not function at your best! Also if possible get a supplement that has both Vitamin D and K2 together, as it is best for bone health.

Importance Vitamin D supplementation has been shown to reduce the incidence of acute respiratory infections in populations at risk. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of preventing viral infections in healthcare workers. Objective The aim of this study was to assess the hypothesis....

"Therefore, in light of these results, it is recommended that coaches and trainers take into consideration the utilization of BA as an ergogenic aid to enhance the vertical and horizontal jumps of volleyball players and increase the homogeneity in adaptive responses over the training period."

Up and comer as far as sports supplement supplementation, just not as researched as creatine. Beta alanine works to help buffer too much acidity, thus allowing muscles to work longer before tiring out.

This study aimed to elucidate the impact of combining Beta-Alanine (BA) supplementation with short sprint interval training on cardiorespiratory fitness, anaerobic power, and bio-motor abilities in volleyball players. Twenty young male athletes were randomly divided into 2 equal groups and performed...

This is probably just the beginning of things to come. Need to watch this, as there never is a "miracle drug". For those who don't know this is the latest and greatest drug being used for weight loss. One of the parts also being left out is once people start this drug, if they don't change diet and exercise it wont work long term anyway.

"Conclusions and Relevance This study’s findings suggest an association between semaglutide and NAION. As this was an observational study, future study is required to assess causality."

In the current issue of JAMA Ophthalmology, Hathaway and colleagues1 have observed a potential association between the use of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA), and a diagnosis of nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). They leveraged data from their...
