Did you know? Each of the different colored shapes on our social media posts represents a branch of the SEDRA Tree Logo. Each is a program pillar that mirrors the 6 pillars & Key Components from the UAE National Policy for Empowering People of Determination.

On April 18th, 9 years ago, the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination was launched as the nation’s framework for facilitating the full participation and inclusion of People of Determination in society, in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

محور فعاليات شهر أبريل هو مفهوم المسؤولية.

وسوف نتأمل طوال هذا الشهر في المعنى الحقيقي لاتخاذ خيارات حكيمة.

مفعمين بروح الوحدة الوطنية من جهة واحتفالاً بيوم الأرض في 22 أبريل من جهة أخرى، ستركز برامجنا هذا الشهر على أهمية أن نكون متعمدين في أفعالنا اليومية، وأن نتحمل مسؤولية أنفسنا وخياراتنا وتأثيرها على من حولنا والعالم الذي نتشاركه.

هذا، وانضموا إلى مسابقتنا لفرصة ربح جهاز آيباد جديد (من موديلات متنوعة):
- اختاروا نشاطاً أو عملاً يمكنكم القيام به لحماية الأرض. يمكنك زراعة شجرة، أو الانضمام إلى حملة تنظيف مجتمعية، أو إنشاء حرف يدوية صديقة للبيئة باستخدام مواد معاد تدويرها أو أكثر!

This month, we reflect on what it truly means to Make Wise Choices.

In the spirit of national unity and Earth Day in April, our programs this month will focus on the importance of being intentional in our daily actions, taking responsibility for ourselves, our choices, and their impact on those around us and the world we share.

Join our competition for a chance to win a new iPad (various models available):
- Pick an action you can take towards protecting the Earth. Plant a tree, join a community clean-up, create eco-friendly craft using recycled materials or more!
- Share photos of your action with us via the submission form link in our bio.
- Don’t forget to share the competition with your family and friends.

Submission deadline is Sunday 26th April, 11:59 PM UAE time. Up to 3 winners will be selected based on the most impactful action following the slogan, "Small Action, Big Impact."

الثاني من أبريل | اليوم العالمي للتوعية بالتوحد

انطلاقًا من شعار الأمم المتحدة لهذا العام، "التوحد والإنسانية – لكل حياة قيمة"، لقد اجتمع شبابنا من أصحاب الهمم في نادي الفنون للتعرف أكثر على التوحد والتعبير عن أنفسهم من خلال رسومات شخصية على لوحة مشتركة.

تحكي كل رسمة قصة فريدة، لكنها مجتمعة تذكرنا بشيء بالغ الأهمية؛ وهو أنه على الرغم من اختلاف طرق تعبيرنا عن أنفسنا، نحن متشابهون أكثر مما نحن مختلفون.

شاركت العائلات في وضع اللمسات الأخيرة، احتفالًا بالتواصل والترابط ضمن فعاليات عام الأسرة. وذلك انعكاس رائع لحقيقة أننا مع تمايزنا كأفراد، فإننا مجتمعين نشكل جزءً من مستقبل إنساني مشترك.

ندعوكم للانضمام إلينا في بناء مجتمع دامج بلا حواجز، حيث يزدهر كل فرد بكرامة.

World Autism Awareness Day | April 2nd

Guided by the United Nations’s theme this year, “Every Life Has Value,” our Youth of Determination came together at Arts Club to learn more about autism and express themselves through self-portraits on a shared canvas.

Each portrait tells a unique story, yet together they remind us of something powerful; that while we may express ourselves differently, we are more alike than we are different.

Families joined in to add the final touches, celebrating connection and togetherness as part of the Year of the Family. A beautiful reflection that while we each have our individuality; we are all part of a shared human future.

We invite you to join us in co-creating an inclusive, barrier-free society where every individual can flourish with dignity.

لقد حملت إلينا الأجواء الماطرة في البلاد ذكرياتنا الجميلة الخاصة بمعرض مربد، ولا سيما إطلاق مبادرة "حلقة المبدعين" بجناح مؤسسة سدرة للجمهور لأول مرة.

وعلى مدار خمس ليالٍ رائعة، لم يكتفِ الشباب أصحاب الهمم بعرض إبداعاتهم اليدوية فحسب، بل شاركوا أيضاً، ضمن برنامج "حلقة المبدعين"، في إدارة الجناح، واستقبلوا الزوار، وتبادلوا القصص، وقدّموا ورش عمل لصناعة الأساور، وباعوا بكل فخر إبداعاتهم التي أمضوا شهورًا في صنعها.

ما بدأ كجلسات تدريبية لتنمية المهارات، تحوّل إلى تجربة ثرية بالثقة والترابط والخبرة العملية.

وفضلاً عن شراء الأساور، فقد حمل الزوار معهم إلى منازلهم قصصًا عن الحب والعزيمة والامتنان والتضامن.

كما أصبحت جدارية "خُذْ رسالة، واترك رسالة" منصة رائعة لتبادل الرسائل الحميمية، احتفاءً بمحبة وتلاحم ضيوف مربد.

شكرنا موصول لشريكنا فريق مربد .mirbad الرائع على كرمه ودعمه المستمر. إنه لشرف لنا أن نكون جزءًا من عائلة مربد.

The rainy weather got us reminiscing about our time at Mirbad and the debut of the Creators Circle by SEDRA Foundation booth in public for the very first time.

For five incredible nights, youth of Determination didn’t just showcase their hand-made work; As part of the Creators Circle program, they co-managed booth operations, welcoming visitors, sharing stories, facilitating bracelet-making workshops, and proudly sold creations they had spent months making.

What started as skill-building, practice sessions transformed into confidence, connection, and real-world experience.

Visitors didn’t just buy bracelets; they carried home stories of love, determination, gratitude, and inclusion.

Our “Take a Message, Leave a Message” wall became a beautiful exchange of heartfelt notes, celebrating the love & interconnectedness of Mirbad guests.

تشرفنا باستقبال معالي السيد محمد المبارك، رئيس دائرة الثقافة والسياحة في أبوظبي، في جناح مؤسسة سدرة "حلقة المبدعين" بمعرض مربد .mirbad.

شكرنا موصول معاليه على تخصيص جزء من وقته الغالي لزيارة جناحنا والتعرف على نهج سدرا المتكامل لبناء مجتمعٍ دامجٍ بلا عوائق. "حلقة المبدعين" هي أحد برامج سدرة الاثني عشر المخصصة لأسر أصحاب الهمم، والمصممة لتمكين المشاركين بمهارات ريادة الأعمال من خلال التعلم بالممارسة والتطبيق في الواقع.

إن التزام دائرة الثقافة والسياحة بإبراز أبوظبي كمجتمع خالٍ من العوائق ومرحبٍ بالجميع، إلى جانب دعمها المستمر لمؤسسات النفع العام مثل سدرة، يمكّننا من مواصلة ربط الواقع الميداني بالأنظمة والحكومة والقيادة من أجل تحقيق تغيير مستدام.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn about SEDRA’s twin-track approach to building a barrier-free, inclusive society. Creators Circle is one of SEDRA’s 12 programs offered to Families of Determination, designed to empower participants with entrepreneurship skills through hands-on learning, practice, and real-world application.

DCT’s commitment to showcasing Abu Dhabi as a barrier-free and welcoming society for all, alongside its ongoing support for organizations like SEDRA, enables us to continue bridging on-field realities with systems, government, and leadership to drive sustainable change.

بالشراكة مع مؤسسة سدرة، استضاف فندق دبليو بي أبوظبي، كوريو كوليكشن بإدارة هيلتون، يومًا استكشافيًا لقطاع الضيافة حيث قام الشباب أصحاب الهمم وأسرهم المهتمون بقطاع الضيافة بالتعرف على الأدوار والمهارات والأشخاص الذين يعملون خلف الكواليس في إطار تجربة تفاعلية هادفة ومصممة لهذا الغرض على أرض الواقع.

ومن خلال سلسلة من ورش عمل قصيرة تحت إشراف فريق الفندق المتضمن كوادر تحضير الموكتيلات والشوكولاتة، وإعداد طاولات خدمة الغرف، وفرز وطيّ الزي الرسمي، اكتسب المشاركون رؤى قيّمة، وخبرة عملية، ولمحة عن مسارات مهنية محتملة في قطاع الضيافة.

لقد كان يومًا مثمرًا وممتعًا للجميع، مدفوعًا بالتعاون والهدف والتزامنا المشترك بتعزيز مجتمع أكثر اندماجاً وأيسر وصولاً.

In partnership with SEDRA Foundation, The WB Abu Dhabi, Curio Collection by Hilton, hosted a Hospitality Discovery Day. An interactive experience designed to introduce Youth and Families of Determination interested in hospitality to the roles, skills, and people working behind the scenes where it all comes to life.

Through a series of hands-on mini workshops led by the hotel team, including mocktail & chocolate making, room service table set-up, and uniform sorting and folding, participants gained valuable insights, practical exposure, and a glimpse into potential career pathways in hospitality.

It was a meaningful and enjoyable day for all, driven by collaboration, purpose, and our shared commitment to fostering a more accessible and inclusive society.

وفي إطار برنامج مؤسسة سدرة بعنوان "المتطوعون أصحاب الهمم"، قام الشباب بتوزيع وجبات إفطار على سائقي التوصيل والعاملين في مجال تقديم الخدمات. ومن خلال هذه المبادرة، مارسنا مهارات التواصل الاجتماعي، وجسدنا قيمة العطاء، وتعرفنا أكثر على أفراد مجتمعنا؛ لفتة عناية واعية تعكس المحبة والامتنان خلال شهر رمضان المبارك.

تسعى مؤسسة سدرة من خلال برنامج "المتطوعون أصحاب الهمم" إلى إتاحة فرصٍ جادةٍ لتعلم تقديم الخدمات والمساهمة في المجتمع.

We are grateful to delivery riders and service workers that continue to show up every day, working tirelessly to keep our communities thriving.

As part of the SEDRA Volunteers of Determination program, youth distributed Iftar meals to riders and service workers. Through this initiative, we practiced social skills, the art of gifting and learned more about members of our community; An intentional gesture of love and gratitude during the blessed month of Ramadan.

At SEDRA, the Volunteers of Determination program creates meaningful opportunities for service learning and contribution.

قد يتجلى الشعور بالوحدة في عدم وجود مجتمع ينتمي إليه المرء أو شخص يتشارك معه أفكاره ومشاعره.

تشير الأبحاث إلى أن الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة الذهنية أكثر عرضة للشعور بالوحدة بنسبة سبع مرات من عامة الناس.

بمناسبة هذا اليوم العالمي لمتلازمة داون، نُقرّ بأهمية الحديث عن الوحدة، ودورنا جميعًا في خلق مساحات للتواصل والاندماج والانتماء.

Loneliness can look like not having a community to belong to or not having someone to share your thoughts and feelings with.

Research shows that people with an intellectual disability are 7 times more likely to experience loneliness than the general public.

On this World Down Syndrome Day, we recognize the importance of talking about loneliness, and the role we all play in creating spaces of connection, inclusion, and belonging.

تحتفي مؤسسة سدرة بهذه المناسبة المميزة تقديرًا وإجلالاً لحب الأمهات الذي لا مثيل له وقوتهن وتفانيهن الذي لا يتزعزع في مجتمعنا.

وانطلاقًا من روح عام الأسرة الجاري بدولة الإمارات، نُقرّ بالدور المحوري والشامل الذي تلعبه الأمهات في المجتمع.

شكرًا لأمهاتنا على رعايتهن الدؤوبة، وعملهن الدؤوب الذي لا يُرى، وعلى كل اللحظات الصادقة والواقعية التي تُسهم في نموّنا، وتُرسّخ فينا قيمًا تبني مجتمعاتنا وتُنشئ الأجيال القادمة.

Honoring Mothers on Mother’s Day | March 21

On this special occasion, SEDRA Foundation celebrates the love, strength, and unwavering dedication of mothers within our community.

In the spirit of the UAE Year of Family, we recognize the central and holistic role mothers play in society.

Thank you to our mothers for the care that never switches off, the quiet unseen work, and all the grounded, real, and unromantic moments that lead to growth, nurturing a legacy of values that build communities and the next generation.

During our March Arts Club, youth of Determination took the time to decorate vases with flower arrangements as a token of love for their mothers.

With appreciation, respect and lots of love we wish all mothers a joyful Mother’s Day.
