FDA 510(k) clearance expands Intuitive da Vinci 5 indications to include certain cardiac procedures. More than 140,000 robotic-assisted cardiac procedures have been performed with da Vinci systems globally.

Da Vinci 5 is now indicated for the following selected thoracoscopically-assisted cardiac surgical procedures using non-force feedback instruments:

- Mitral valve repair
- IMA mobilization for cardiac revascularization
- Patent foramen ovale closure
- Atrial septal defect repair
- Left atrial appendage closure/occlusion
- Atrial myxoma excision
- Mitral valve replacement
- Tricuspid valve repair
- Epicardial pacing lead placement

We were happy to host a hands-on workshop during the pre-conference days of the 1st International Cardiogenic Shock Congress (ICSC) in Abu Dhabi, together with our partners Spectrum Medical.

The session focused on advanced clinical applications of dual lumen cannula, combining practical demonstrations, step-by-step handling, insertion simulation, and open clinical discussion. Led by Dr. Roberto Lorusso, the workshop created a great space for meaningful exchange, insights, and hands-on learning.

We spent a couple of impactful days at the 1st International Cardiogenic Shock Congress (ICSC), focused on multidisciplinary expert pathways in hemodynamics, mechanical circulatory support (MCS), and patient recovery.

Held from January 24 to 25, 2026 at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, the congress brought together leading clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, share real-world experience, and advance standards of care in one of the most critical areas of cardiovascular medicine.
