Pediatric out of hospital cardiac arrest events are rare globally, with a low survival rate compared to adults. The study concluded that first aid training for both parents and caregivers in addition to the further linkage between pre-hospital and hospitals data all will reduce pediatric out of hospital cardiac arrest morbidity and mortality.

Hysterosalpingo-Foam Sonography (HyFoSy) is a quick, well-tolerated and less painful procedure than HSG for tubal patency testing. HyFoSy is an advanced technique that uses ultrasound to reveal abnormalities of Fallopian tubes or tubal blockage. It uses EXEM gel foam which is a safer alternative, in comparison to the laparoscopy dye test or the traditional hysterosalpingogram (HSG) when testing for tubal patency. Prof. Sanford Markowitz used the discovery of a DNA change to develop a less-intrusive screening test for colon cancer. Prof. Markowitz found a specific DNA change that takes place in colon cancers. From that discovery, he developed a non-intrusive stool test, which even can be done at home, that can detect 80% of colon cancers as well as many pre-cancerous growths.

Dr. Alter co-discovered the Australian antigen a key to detecting the hepatitis B virus. He worked on researches that identified non-A, non-B hepatitis, now called hepatitis C. His work was instrumental in providing the scientific basis for instituting blood donor screening programs that have decreased the incidence of transfusion-transmitted hepatitis to near zero.
