Remember it’s your journey. You’re the one that makes the choice!

Sometimes breastfeeding will end up looking very different than what you had imagined.
So it's important for you to surround yourself with people who will support you in making an informed choice.
A partner, a mother, a friend and most importantly an experienced lactation consultant who will share evidence based information with you and ask you what you want and help you reach your goal.

I saw Joelle a few days postpartum, and she was going through a great deal of pain before enjoying her breastfeeding journey.

This is how she tells her story: "Breastfeeding pain started the second day my Valerie was born. I was struggling to make her properly latch and needed someone to help. But it did not stop there, the following months were also eventful: tongue tie release, engorgement, thrush, allergy, and after all going back to work… Breastfeeding is not easy but it’s the most beautiful experience that a mother can have. It has its challenges, but you need to keep going. Remember, you are not alone, lactation consultants are there for help and support! Always seek professional help!"

I am glad to report that Joelle hasn't been experiencing any pain for a while now, and it's obvious baby Valerie is enjoying her mama's milk 🎶🤱🏻 🎶❤️

If your baby is struggling to latch deeply, breast shaping is a great way to give them a hand!

Check the photo with my trusted b**b to see what I mean.
Too often I see mothers placing their fingers very close to the ni**le not knowing that it is right where the baby needs their lips and chins to land.

My advice is to back your fingers up a bit to make sure you are allowing space for where the baby needs to be.

Ni***es don’t need to "toughen up” or "get used to it”.

When you’re feeding your baby on the breast, a slight tug should be felt, no amount of pain is normal.

When latching hurts, it means something is preventing your baby from breastfeeding optimally. Oral restriction, positioning, thrush, or even a poor latch are all reasons that can lead to a painful experience.

I will say it louder, PAINFUL BREASTFEEDING IS NOT NORMAL and you’re not supposed to do this alone!

Dads might not be able to breastfeed, but they can support mothers who do in so many different ways, and the things they can do are not that difficult!

I remember when I had both my boys, my husband would help putting them to sleep and bathe them so I could get a bit of time to breathe.
These small things would help me feel a bit less overwhelmed.

I often get asked on how to recognize a tongue tie in a new baby.
So here they are!

If you are currently experiencing any of these issues, there is support out there for you!

Seek help from the nearest Lactation Consultant, she will be able to thoroughly assess the situation and guide you through the proper steps on how to navigate it.

🤱Breastfeeding with ease is 100% accomplishable!
