Our Story
The Carbone Clinic provides ABA services to children with autism through clinic based one-on-one instruction to families in Dubai and consultation services to families that visit us from overseas.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science in which tactics derived from the principles of behavior are applied to improve socially significant behaviors and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for the improvement in behavior. The use of ABA with children diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities has been well-researched and shown to lead to meaningful increases in skill levels.
For children in Dubai, we provide one-on-one teaching (direct instruction) sessions to assess learner needs and develop skills. Qualified therapists instruct the children in a suitable environment, under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). We use effective data recording methods and take instructional decisions guided by the studentโs performance data.
For families living outside Dubai, we provide consultations through visits to our center. Consultations provide an assessment of the learner's strengths and areas of need based upon direct observation and interaction with the learner. Certified professionals (BCBAs and BCaBAs) provide the consultations. A full range of the childโs skill domains (language abilities, self-care, socialization, etc) are assessed including skills identified in the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment & Placement Program (VB-MAPP). We prioritize during the assessment problem behavior that includes self-injury or behavior that interferes with learning. The assessment also identifies the teaching methods that facilitate the learner's acquisition of important skills. Families can bring their own therapists or nannies to the consultations. We train the learner's parents, therapists and nannies through hands-on coaching to implement the most effective teaching procedures. The first consultationโs duration is typically either three or five days.
Our center is committed to the training of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts (BCaBA). Our training meets the guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Junior therapists of our staff are working towards obtaining their professional certification while receiving the world class training offered by Dr. Carbone and the Carbone Clinic.
