Dust isn't just a cleaning nuisance—it's a direct threat to your respiratory health. 😷 For my patients with allergic asthma, atmospheric dust and even strong scents can trigger a sudden flare-up. When these particles enter your lungs, they cause inflammation and narrowing of the airways. Swipe to see how you can minimize exposure and keep your lungs clear in this climate.

Asthma isn't always predictable. One day you feel great, and the next, chest tightness or wheezing can take over. 🩺 These aren't just minor inconveniences—they are signs your asthma might not be under control. If you find yourself reaching for your inhaler more often or waking up at night, it's time for a professional lung function assessment. Your breathing shouldn't be a struggle.

One of the most critical decisions we make with Pneumonia is: "Can this be treated at home, or is hospital admission necessary?"

It depends entirely on the severity. While many cases are managed safely at home with oral antibiotics, you should head to the Emergency Department if you notice these severe signs:

⚠️ Fast Heart Rate & Respiratory Rate
⚠️ Inability to Eat or Drink
⚠️ Confusion or High Fever with Rigors

At the hospital, we use specific clinical tools (like the CURB score) and blood tests (CRP, White Cell Count) to determine if you need intravenous antibiotics and high-dependency care.

Pneumonia is serious. Don't take chances.

Is it your heart, your lungs, or just a muscle strain?

When sudden chest pain hits, the immediate fear is often cardiac. While getting an ECG is the vital first step, many cases of chest pain actually stem from pulmonary or musculoskeletal issues.

If the pain worsens with movement or feels better when resting, it often points to the chest wall or ribcage. However, if you struggle to take a deep breath—what we call pleuritic chest pain—it requires immediate investigation to rule out pneumonia or a pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lung).

The most important rule is never to ignore the symptom. If you have been cleared by a cardiologist but still experience pain, or if breathing is difficult, you need a comprehensive respiratory evaluation. We use tools like CT pulmonary angiograms to find the root cause and treat it effectively.

Don't guess with your health. If you are unsure, visit the emergency department or book a consultation to get a clear diagnosis.

Struggling to get a good night's rest? Let’s talk about Sleep Hygiene. 🌙

To ensure you get 7 hours of high-quality sleep, here is my checklist for a better night:

✅ Environment: Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet. ✅ Tech-Free Zone: No iPhones, computers, or blue light next to your bed. These are major distractions. ✅ Routine: Set a fixed time to go to bed and wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Using phones late at night shortens your sleep time, leaving you tired and irritable the next day.

Prioritize your sleep health today.

"Why is sleep so important?" It’s a question I get asked often. 😴

Sleep isn't just about resting; it's an active process where your body works hard to: 🧠 Transform daily learning into long-term memories. 🛡️ Boost your immunity to fight infections better. 💪 Repair muscles, tissues, and cells. 👶 In children, it even releases growth hormones essential for development.

Missing out on quality sleep creates a deficit that impacts your health the next day and week.

If you struggle with sleep or respiratory issues affecting your rest, let's talk. Call +971 043786666 to book a consultation at Al Zahra Hospital, Dubai.

When we suspect lung cancer, early and accurate investigation makes all the difference.

Here’s how we diagnose it step by step:
1️⃣ Chest X-ray — the first screening.
2️⃣ CT (CAT) Scan — gives detailed lung imaging.
3️⃣ Bronchoscopy — camera-guided tissue biopsy.
4️⃣ EBUS Bronchoscopy — checks if lymph nodes are involved.
5️⃣ PET Scan — helps in staging and prognosis.

Each test has its role in understanding how advanced the cancer is and deciding the right treatment plan.

It's Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Do you know the warning signs? 🫁

In this video, I demonstrate a Bronchoscopy—a diagnostic procedure using a pencil-thin telescopic camera. This advanced tool allows us to look inside the airways and take biopsies to confirm a diagnosis.

When should you see a doctor? If you experience:

Persistent coughing

Coughing up blood

Unexplained shortness of breath

At Al Zahra Hospital, we have full diagnostic facilities, including Bronchoscopy and EBUS, to provide you with accurate answers.

Early detection is key.

For my patients with asthma, "How can I boost my immunity?" is a top priority.

While exercise is important, one of the first things I check in my clinic is Vitamin D levels.

Why? Because low Vitamin D can actually make asthma worse.

Here in Dubai, many of us are deficient even with all the sun. It is so important to get your levels checked and supplement if needed—sometimes with a high dose to boost your levels.

This is a key message for everyone I treat with airway allergies or asthma.

To discuss your asthma management plan, call +971 043786666 to book a consultation at Al Zahra Hospital.

❄️ Winter is coming, and that often means a higher risk of infections and pneumonia.

As a pulmonologist, I want to help you and your family stay healthy. Here are 3 simple precautions I recommend:

1️⃣ Practice Good Hand Hygiene: This is so important. Children often bring infections home from school, so have them (and you!) wash hands thoroughly as soon as they enter the house.

2️⃣ Be Aware of Your Environment: If someone at home is sick, try to avoid close contact. In crowded public places, wearing a mask is still a good way to prevent catching infections.

3️⃣ Consider Vaccines: Vaccines are a key part of prevention. I particularly recommend the Pneumonia Vaccine and the annual Flu Vaccine (Flu Jab) for those in at-risk groups, especially anyone over 60.

It's always better to prevent infections if you can. If you have any respiratory concerns, I am here to help.

To book a consultation, call Al Zahra Hospital at +971 043786666.
