A message from us at TBC to all our patients and community

10 years ago, Talking Brains began with a simple mission, to help children and adults connect their minds and bodies, find their voices, and reach their potential through movement, play, and understanding.
A decade later, our mission remains the same, but our community has grown beyond what we could have imagined. Over these years, we’ve had the privilege of accompanying countless families, celebrating small victories that led to big transformations, and learning every day from the children and adults who inspire us.
Behind every session, every milestone, and every smile is a team of passionate therapists who believe in the power of connection and collaboration, between brain and body, between therapist and family, between effort and progress.
As we celebrate 10 years, we look back with gratitude and forward with excitement. Thank you to every family who trusted us, every professional who collaborated with us, and every child who reminded us why we do what we do.
Here’s to the next 10 years of moving, growing, and thriving together. 💛

“Touch, move, balance — everything works together.”
Sensorimotor integration is how the brain processes and responds to sensory input through movement.
🎯 If this system is off, individuals may appear clumsy, distracted, or overwhelmed by certain textures or sounds.
We guide the brain to better organize sensory input through structured movement, games, and body-based learning.

“Left or right? It’s not always automatic.”
Laterality is the ability to understand and consistently use the left and right sides of the body. It’s key for coordination, writing, and orientation.
🧠 In children, it supports reading and writing. In adults, it’s essential for regaining functional movement after stroke or brain injury.
👣 Through targeted movement and play, we strengthen the brain’s ability to organize and coordinate both sides.

“Knowing where you are in space changes how you move through the world.”
Spatial organization helps us judge distance, direction, depth, and our position in the environment.
🔹 It’s critical for safe walking, catching a ball, or even writing on a line.
In therapy, we use obstacle courses, ball games, and guided movements to build spatial awareness.
📍 Rebuild confidence in space — one step at a time.

“Movement has rhythm — and rhythm supports the brain.”
Temporal organization is the sense of timing, sequencing, and rhythm. It affects everything from walking pace to processing language.
🕒 In kids, it helps with attention, planning, and language. In adults, it supports gait, fluidity, and daily activity flow.
⏱️ At TBC, we use music, clapping, and rhythmic movements to bring back the brain’s sense of timing.

“We don’t just move the body — we activate the brain.”
Cognitive and executive functions include attention, memory, inhibition, and planning.
🧩 Psychomotor therapy uses physical activity to stimulate mental flexibility, focus, and problem-solving.
For children, it supports learning readiness. For adults, it aids recovery from injury or cognitive decline.

“Before we move with confidence, we must feel at home in our body.”
Body schema is our unconscious map of our body in space — it tells us where we begin and end. Body image, meanwhile, shapes how we feel about that body.
🔹 Psychomotor therapy helps individuals reconnect with their body’s shape, boundaries, and capabilities — especially after injury, trauma, or developmental delay.
👉 At Talking Brains Center, we guide children and adults toward deeper body awareness through movement.

“Not too tight. Not too loose. Just right.”
Muscle tone is the resting tension in muscles. Postural control is our ability to stay upright and balanced.
Children with low tone may slouch or tire easily. Adults recovering from neurological conditions may struggle with stability or fatigue.
🌟 Through guided exercises and therapeutic play, we help retrain the body for strength, alignment, and ease.

Strong bodies. Skilled hands. Confident lives.
Motor skills are the foundation of physical independence — from walking and jumping to buttoning a shirt.
💪 Gross motor skills help with strength, balance, and posture. Fine motor skills allow precision and coordination.
We use engaging, task-based activities to build strength and control — whether on the mat, in the gym, or at a desk.
