On Friday I joined at for a seminar on mastering fear.
Yep this included jamming an arrow into my throat and walking into it!

I learned a hell of a lot and to be honest I easy shocked with the lessons I learned about myself, but prospective in life is everything and a coaching session like this can really shake out the demons that lurk within, not to get rid of them but to learn how to beat them and silence them to allow growth.

I speak about fear with my clients along with many other subjects when it comes to overall health, but seldomly adress them myself.

Yesterday would have been my dads 70th birthday, these two pictures are the last ones I have with him & my boy.

You grow up thinking you’re invisible and your family will be there forever.

Death is the only real guarantee in life, we never know when it’s coming but if we are lucky enough we die of old age.

Control what you can, let go of things you cannot, take advantage of every moment that crosses your path.

If you have thoughts of making positive changes to your lifestyle just get in with it.

I WENT FOR ANOTHER RUN!

The beautiful sight of in the summer sun!
Now you know I’m not a running fan… but with this at your doorstep it’s hard not to 🏃‍♂️

Over the past 6weeks my schedule & routine has been up in the air! Here’s what I did to stay consistent… ⬇️⤵️ 👀

EXPLORE - Do not be afraid to try new workouts when you are in new places & 🥊

KISS - keep its simple stupid! If you are short on time, low on equipment, just move these 5 squats lunges, push-ups, superman press & planks

RELAX - life will beat you up a little it’s fine let it throw punches, just don’t beat yourself up, if you miss a day or two it’s fine do it tomorrow, you know it’s not a usual trait it’s just life, and the journey is long.

Over 12 years in this amazing city, it dawned on me last night at the .club event hotel how much this place has developed! 12 years ago the edition hotel was a helipad 😅 of course I took a flywheel bike out there for a ride! 👦🏻 I have aged a bit 🤥 😅

My first event with the young professionals club and really my first networking event, what a great community of professionals sharing knowledge ideas and story’s all very inspiring especially given the location and just how much the amazing city of dubai have developed 🙌🏽

No bike available so push ups in order 💪🏽

What’s your favourite quote and by whom???

Here’s my interpretation when it comes to health and fitness…

#1 - This is a quote about complacency. What do you achieve some success you have to keep going if you don’t you may slip back into old habits!

#2 - Achieving a fitness goal is going to hurt a little bit… if you can endure the pain of staying the same, embrace the same level of struggle to invoke positive change.

#3 - What you are looking to achieve should require effort and should require struggle. If it doesn’t the growth and strength you will obtain may fall short of expectations.

This is a bit of a personal post…
2022 was the worst year of my life, I had to deal with a lot of personal trauma & stress, professional frustration and confusion, in all honesty I was lost.
Unfortunately I lost my way with my own physical, nutritional and mental health leading me to have a (hopefully) premature midlife crisis, I was battling some heavy s**t, I gained the best part of 20KG, I’d lost my passion, drive and vision for the future.
I had to make a big call to slam the breaks on and make some lifestyle changes, a good friend of mine said to me
“you have to try coach yourself, what would tell a client who was in the same situation”
My answer was “take a step back, evaluate the situation you are in, take accountability, take action starting with prioritising sleep, nutrition, exercise & decompression”
It’s an understatement to say it's been smooth sailing since this moment but I try to keep the fundamentals in place.
I’m now sitting at around 89 kg, having weighed 115 kg at the end of last summer, I was quite surprised how much I let myself slip.
Losing nearly 25kg in weight feels amazing, my little lad weighs around 20 kg and the thought of carrying that much extra mass around with me without knowing it is quite scary!
Here’s what I didn’t do…
❌ 3, 5, 7 or any day Juice Cleanse
❌ Stop eating carbs or eliminate anything from my diet
❌ Workout for 3 hours a day every day
Here’s what i Did…
✅ Took account of my caloric & macronutrient needs at a manageable deficit
✅ Increased my daily step count by 20% each week until I hit a set threshold (12K)
✅ Prioritised sleep and recovery, increased workout intensity & added a recovery session (Yin Yoga / deep stretching)
